A Dream Come True

"Damn." Jackie uttered, checking how much time was left downloading her new game and seeing she still had an hour to go. It never failed, her internet connection would always go down when she needed it the most and true to form it had gone down when the game had been released at midnight. It had still been down when she had had to leave for work. Now it was so slow it seemed no better than dial up. She knew the reason, the cable connection provided by the apartment complex couldn't handle the number of people trying to surf the net at the same time and it seemed like that was the first thing everyone did when they got home in the evening. It would get better later as people went to bed but she had been waiting for the latest Dragonquest game for months.

2011: Minutes Too Late

Adrian groaned at the piercing light stabbing his eyes as he slowly opened them. As far as hangovers went this wasn't the worst he'd ever had but it still hurt like hell and the worst part was he couldn't remember how he'd gotten it. It was rare enough for him to drink to the point of having a hangover much less not remember the party and he was a bit annoyed with himself.

Dear Diary - A New Life

June 29, 2009

Dear Diary,

I can't believe I'm back in the Cathedral, I was so sure when I left I would never set foot in this place again. Turns out I was wrong, just like I've been wrong about a lot of things this past year. Not that I didn't have what I thought were good reasons backing my beliefs. Given the circumstances of my family's deaths and the events which occurred in the days following anyone would have thought the same. At least I like to think they would. I admit not everyone would have reacted as I had and sworn to kill the one responsible, even if they did come to see the light later on as I did. Now I know things aren't always as they seem and even a decision made with the right intentions can be made for the wrong reasons.

Dear Diary: Parting Company

April 7, 2009

Dear Diary,

Today I made what was either the best decision of my life or the worst. I left the Conquistadors.

Back when I first heard about the team forming I thought it would be a good idea to join them. Having no real experience at being a hero I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to learn and hone my abilities in order to bring down the one behind the deaths of my children. For awhile I thought that was exactly what I was doing but the past few weeks things haven't been quite as clear.

As many of you are aware the site went down for over a week not too long ago. Unfortunately when the site goes down we do not have access to users email addresses and no way to contact users to let them know what is happening unless an admin or GM has a player's email address in their personal address book. I have been looking for ways to remedy this situation and think I have found a solution.

Google Docs provides a way to create forms people can fill out and it stores the information in a Google Docs spreadsheet. I have created one of these forms for anyone who wants to sign up for news when there is an outage or other happening on the site. There is a link to this form in the navigation panel on the left, just above where you log out.

The Olympians

Over the next few weeks I'll be moving the archives of the play by email game I run, The Olympians, to this site in order to preserve and organize them. Thanks to China for allowing me to find a home for these so they don't get lost.

This is the original background blurb for my character in the Faust Chronicles. I am in the process of rewriting and expanding it but I'm posting it now to give players an idea of what Darren is looking for.

Drifting up out of slumber Liz tried to roll over and found she was unable to move. Confusion pushing sleep from her mind she opened her eyes to find herself sitting upright, tied securely to a chair. Fear replaced confusion as memory of her abduction came flooding back. The rough hands grabbing her, the sweet smelling cloth covering her face, blocking her screams.

Table for Two

It was rare for Tina to eat out but she had little time between leaving the Haven shelter and when she was due at the Cathedral for her turn at monitor duty. Even if she ate out often it would have been likely Tina would have passed over the tiny restaurant, nearly hidden on a side street behind the shops of the main road, without ever seeing it. On the outside it looked like someone's home with only a small sign reading "Peppe's" to show it was something more. Tina wondered how they managed to get any business at all, though the woman who told her about it said it was always busy.
