Faust Submission - Lavender Hope Bradley - rgordona

The sun was bright but it was dark in the tent, a heavy canvas affair, circular with a conical roof. The outside was stripped in red and white, but the inside walls were plainer, once white stained grey from smoke and use. It was devided into two small rooms, a tiny entrance way where Lavender sat and took the patrons money before they went through to the back room. That was a the larger room, but still very cramped. A circular table covered with a baize cloth sat in the middle with a folding chair on each side. There was a spare chair in the lobby just in case a young couple wanted a joint reading, they often did.

Cat and Mice - Epilogue

What follows is an extract from Here, There and Everywhere, the autobiography of Celeste Frasier. It is generally believed to have been ghost written by Benson Tolliver but this has always been officially denied.

My first experience of crime fighting came when I was seventeen. A pair of notorious con-artists were known to be working close to my school; young girls were their favoured target. The police knew of them but had never been able to get enough evidence to make a case. The two men used threats of violence and blackmail to keep their victims quiet and no one was prepared to stand up in court and point the finger.

Phase: The Mice Will Play

Marc had the brains, Jean had the looks. Together the brothers had a scam. Pick a girl, show her a good time and fleece her for every penny Daddy would give.

Marc had fixed himself up as a taxi service for The Immaculate Conception School for Girls. He had also fixed the car to break down on cue. Jean played knight in shinning armour, or knight in muddy Landrover. Scoop the damsel out of her distress and the job was half done.

Phase: When the Cats Away ...

The late afternoon sun was glorious. Reflecting off the lake and the snow capped peaks which surrounded the meadow it gave the air a quality all of its own. Artists’ light they called it. Celeste reclined on a bank of grass watching the shadows lengthen towards her. She still had a good couple of hours before she would be in their shade. A cow bell clanged in the distance as the brown and white herd grazed below.

Distractedly she linked alpine daisies together. A garland already adorned each wrist and this chain was halfway to necklace length. It would look fine with the simple white blouse she wore. Relaxed and at ease with the world, she waited smiling.

Phase: Stories Overheard at the Bar – 1

There was a new face at Pops’ Bar. Tall Phil had vouched for his new partner so the reception wasn’t the cold shoulder it cold have been but the lad still had to deal with the third degree, that was tradition.  “So why did you become a cop?”

Pedantism - Do not read

Do not read this. I am just playing with the system.

Is this automatically public acess? I am not sure.

I should never have started looking for spelling mistakes because now I see them everywhere. (And I know it is an example of burnt ironware.)

A&D
"The car drew to a halt outside the Carlton hotel" Capital H?
Three closets in the suite not the suit
"A TV up on a shelf in one corner played BBC News quietly to itself."  the BBC News or BBC News 24?
