Scene 3 - Act 1: Hail Ceasar

They'd done their homework.

For two days, they'd tailed her.  They watched where she went (not many places, but it was a great primer on how to get around the vast city), who she met with (just a couple of people, but nobody familiar - not that anybody really was at this point), and what she did (mainly talk).  There was a pattern and it was Ghost who finally worked it out.

Scene 1 - Act 9: Bad Boys, Bad Boys

Al was the first to hear them coming.  From behind the house he picked up the sounds of squealing tires from down the street.  That was followed by some heavy engine sounds that closed in rapidly from each end of the street.  Whatever they were, they had communication equipment.  The sounds of radio chatter from inside the approaching vehicles was clear to him.

Tom was the first to see them as the two marked cars screeched to a halt at the end of the driveway, blocking the larger vehicle from exiting.  The vehicles were four-wheeled like Fox's but these had an official look and feel to them, black and white with the word "Police" on the side.

Scene 1 - Act 7: What's The Plan, Stan?

Tom walked down the concrete steps to the driveway and then continued on to the street.  A four wheeled utility vehicle drove on past him, the driver a middle-aged woman.  She didn't spare him so much as a glance as she coasted to a stop at the end of the street and then turned left before continuing on, leaving only the sound of her engine.

As he listened to it fade away into the distance unseen behind intervening trees and homes, up a hill which dominated the local geography, Tom sort of tuned into his surroundings.  The air was clean and crisp, if somewhat cold.  Something was missing from it as he breathed it in with long, satisfying breaths.  It wasn't something he missed fondly, noting how easy it was to breathe here.
