Site Back Up

NextGen is back up.
If anyone is having trouble logging on, please delete your browser cookies and try again. This is usually found under the 'tools' section of your browser.
Please let us know if you're experiencing any issues. We're remedying them as we find them. We know that the chat room isn't working. Bunty will be taking point on bringing that back up.
Thank you to Imajica for the fresh set of eyes! Amazing what a missing or extra '.' (dot) can do in an important file. ...and how impossible it is to see when you've gone a day and a half with no sleep.
I can't even begin to tell the members how sorry I am for the down time. I hope very much that we don't lose any of our wonderful GMs or players over this. I do understand how important it is to have a reliable site hosting your games, and understand if we have some fall out from this. We just had such a significant crash last week, that we decided to put everything on hold and do our very best to fix our existing issues.
We have given it our best effort, and the site is updated (all of the modules and drupal core). Whether this will eliminate all of our problems, I don't know, but it sure can't hurt. Once we know the issue isn't on our end, if we continue to have issues (on the host end) we can tackle that by finding a new host (hopefully it won't come to that).
The thing that I'd like everyone to know, is that we have a couple of very very network savvy people on our team (KL and Imajica). They volunteer their time and really made an overwhelming effort to get us back up. This entire site is a labor of love, that blossomed from one game. We made a dynamic site that it seemed a waste not to share, and she just grew quicker and faster than we had expected. In our effort to keep up, some holes developed over time. We're hoping those holes are all patched up now, and thank you for your patience and understanding through all of this.
Please, let the games continue. :) If you have outstanding concerns, please feel free to voice them, and we'll do our best to answer them.

Issues
Let me start the outstanding issues, by reporting two that I've seen so far.
1. Forum Images: The author images on the forum, don't seem to be showing. This might be a cache issue on my end, because I know you recently downgraded a module for some other errors we were seeing.
2. The taxonomy autocomplete error is back. I don't remember what we did to remedy that before. It happened to me in the author field, but I imagine it will be consistent in the other auto complete fields as well.
Woo Hoo!! We back! Thank you
Woo Hoo!! We back! Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who got the patient back to health. Kudos.
If we're using this thread to track issues, may I offer the following:
3. Recieved the error 'Required plugin "view" not found.' while trying to insert an image into a post.
Now, everyone back to work. There are heroic deeds to do and villainous schemes to thwart.
Fixed the taxonomy error. The
Fixed the taxonomy error.
The forum images I'm going to have to look into a bit more.

It'll take more than that to scare me off! Thank you for all your hard work! This is a great site and I'm really glad to see it back up. I've had some log in issues, but I think it's working now.
Now in stompy size!
Forum Images
Forum images are now fixed.

Richard, for now use Image Assist to insert an image. We may be having issues with the editor that need to be addressed.

Huge kudos!
Seriously, thank you to KL, Bunty, Imajica and China and whoever else helped for gettin' it done! Y'all rock!

Ok, this turns out to be an issue with the latest version of our modules. They redid the browser and added a new button but they never took the old button out.
The new button looks like a black & white version of the image button you're used to and has moved down to the right of the Image Assist button.
Sorry about the confusion and I'm still looking for a way to delete the old button. I haven't played with the new browser much so I'm not sure how well it works so let me know if there are any problems with it.

Withdrawal
I was going through withdrawal.. Thanks to everyone that got our favorite spot on the Interwebs up and running.
Spam Blocker
Another quick note. We're waiting to enable our spam blocker until after we're sure everything else is squared away. So if you see a stray forum comment or post, please know that we'll delete it as soon as an admin sees it.
Gotcha, thanks bunches. Go
Gotcha, thanks bunches. Go get some rest.
Thank you!
Big huge kudos to the indefatigable KL and the magical Imajica for wading through this mess. (Where can we send flowers, candygrams, strippers, etc?)
I will try to get chat back up on my lunch hour. I know you junkies need your num-nums.

Testing Adding Content
Just a test to see if I can reproduce the error Thrak is getting.

Hmmmm
I can't seem to reproduce the error.

Errors...
Last night I edited the latest turns for ZEN, CZ and MD. This morning only CZ appears to be there.
If you check "revisions" you can see where I edited the respective stories, but the actual text appears to not be showing up. Not sure why but I thought I'd mention it.
Thanks.
Definitely worth mentioning
Definitely worth mentioning Dave. Discouraging as it is, this happened once before the crash to Richard in TCQ. One time, I could assume it was user error, accidentally deleting something. ...but obviously, it's more than that.
This is the first recurrence that I know of since his. About what time were you updating the files? I'm trying to see if the time is overlapping with when our database is running it's backup.
...
INFORMATION: Zen did not delete your text due to it revealing substantial plot secrets.
Revision time stamps
CZ (showing revision) - 8/16/10 23:23
ZEN - "Issue 1: Alpha - Bridge" (NOT showing revision) - 8/16/10 23:14
MD - "Bon Voyage: Chapter 3" (NOT showing revision) - 8/16/10 23:35
Thanks!
Big thanks to everyone who put in time getting things rebuilt. I've been in that situation more than once, and I appreciate the work behind the scenes! :)
Editor not working
There seems to be a problem with the editor. I'm working on it but so far have had no luck. If you switch to the plain text editor you can post to moves and it will show up but if you use the WYSIWYG editor your additions will disappear.

Editor Problem Fixed
I'm pretty sure I have the editor problem fixed but I had to disable the one image browser entirely. Image Assist still works and to get the text to wrap properly you can right click the image, select image properties, and choose your text alignment.
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Search Error
user warning: Table 'NextGen.search_total' doesn't exist query: SELECT SUM(i.score * t.count) AS score FROM search_index i INNER JOIN search_total t ON i.word = t.word INNER JOIN node n ON n.nid = i.sid WHERE n.status = 1 AND (i.word = 'brice' OR i.word = 'jennings') AND i.type = 'node' GROUP BY i.type, i.sid HAVING COUNT(*) >= 2 ORDER BY score DESC LIMIT 0, 1 in /var/www/nexttho3/data/www/nextgenrpg.com/modules/search/search.module on line 946.
I was searching for 'Brice Jennings'. This is the only search that I've tried.
Fixed
This just needed the search module uninstalled then reinstalled.

pesky layout
This is minor at best, and likely a change when we updated Drupal or maybe with one of the modules. But the Top Filter display is showing in the preview on all of the front paged items. Is there an easy way to remove that from the preview. If not, no biggy.
That wasn't there before? I'm
That wasn't there before? I'm so used to ignoring it I don't remember where it used to show up compared to now.
There is no setting anywhere that I know of that controls whether that field is shown in the teaser or not. It can be removed but not easily unless it's something I'm overlooking.

Ok, you learn something every
Ok, you learn something every day. You have to go into each content type and tell it where you want it to display the field. I think this is something new in the module we use to create the field.
I'm turning the display off completely for each one as no one really needs to see it, it's just a field to help filter content with the tools we provide.

Hrm...
You know, KL... Maybe they WERE there before. *grin* I don't know, not for sure.
...BUT...I do know that I like them 'not' there betters. :)
So thank you!!
