Baronies of the Shield

The Baronies of the Shield are three distinct city states that share a common heritage. Once ruled by a king, the three cities were all one nation. But when a sickness claimed the king and his only son, and heir, fell in battle defending the northern marches less than a month later, the line of ruler ship failed and the lords of each city refused to acknowledge the others as the rightful ruler.

The three cities of the Baronies are very similar to one another in architecture and citizenry, and still maintain good relations with one another, each willing to come to the aid of a sister city in times of need. This is not to say that border disputes have not happened or do not happen still, but these conflicts are generally small in nature and resolved quickly

The Barony of Uldun is the northernmost, bordering on the lands of Shail'Garath, and the Enemy. The men and women there are stout, in the way of Sheinarans, and hunters mostly. The Baron of Uldun is Warrin Gosthaus and little is known of him except he is purported to be of small stature.

The Barony of Bolene is the westernmost and tucked against the Kal'lorryn, the continental divide. Most people there earn their living through the processing of ores, or making metal goods, though generally regarded of poorer quality than those of Deltenheim. There is a significant Dwarven presence in Bolene, refugees or displaced members of that race settling amongst humans for the safety. The Baron of Bolene is Rothmore of Longhall, who is said to be a master of sword and shield.

The Barony of Archaisus is the Southernmost and most agrarian of the three. Crops and fine horses are their forte, and their military is very cavalry heavy. The Baroness of Archasius is Seraphine Firget, said to be a beautiful woman who loves the horses of her lands and is dedicated to standing against Morgonth.
