The Barrier Peaks

The mountain range known as The Barrier Peaks runs mostly East to West, across the northern part of Cozeroth. The Barrier Peaks form a giant 'T' on the continent, with the Kal'Lorryn acting as the upright. The two mountain ranges meet at a massive series of peaks that dwarf the nearby summits in height and circumference, known as the Bolg Kahdir, or Giants Fortress in the tongue of the dwarven folk.

The Barrier Peaks themselves are, for the most part, tall ridges of mountains heavily glaciated and snow covered year round. There is one major pass in the range, just west of the Bolg Kahdir, called The Battle Pass. Steep high walled cliffs line this wide valley east and west, and it is here that the Hordes of Morgoth try the defenses of the Free South every spring.

There are many other passes along the length of the range. Most of these smaller passes are in the East Central part of the range that borders with the Barony of Uldun. Thus the Barony of Uldun also frequently finds itself put to the test in the summer months.

The Barrier Peaks are known to be populated in their subteraneans depths by all manner of creature foul and hateful. From Drow elves to the foul Troglodytes, the warrens and caverns beneath the mountains are a breeding ground for the Hordes. It is believed, though not proven by the learned, that there must be at least one underground tunnel that runs from under the peaks across long miles to the Chasm of Shail' Garath.
