CZ: Theres more to quilting than sewing.

Enna,

Something moves in the high wilds. The ones who rescued Risos said something circled their camp. They found a book, as well, that scares me. It seemed old, and strong. A book. There is trouble brewing.

I sent this to you, because I knew you'd know what to do with it.

Larena Denellon

The missive was scrawled onto the paper in a hurry, folded and slid into an envelope addressed to Enna Chedena. Risos Denellon handed it over to Cledd Thorntunn, and it rode in his satchel all the bumpy way down to Lanburg. There was some hullaballoo when they arrived, but Cledd had enough presence of mind to deliver it to Enna Chedena. She was a well known busybody, but Cledd didn't want to know what was up. Womens business.

Enna Chedena read the message, and folded the paper back up, turning in place. Samn had been summoned to a council meeting, and right at sundown. Something was up, and while the men talked about it, it was up to the women as usual to get ready for it.

She sent her own daughter out to round up some other children, who would run errands for hard candies. Then she sat down and began to write notes of her own. To Issalee Adodyne, the local seamstress, she sent word to start making bandages. To Liser Polarch, foodstuffs. To Genefa Cepaze, wagons and carts. On and on, and once it was done, he children were sent out to find the Dragon Ferns, whos stems and leaves were known to have healing qualities. Before the council meeting was over, ovens were fired all around Lanburg, as bread dough began to be worked. Water jugs were being filled, and a line of children and young men worked moving supplies from the back of The Plowman's Rest Inn, to St. Autrus' cathedral.

There was more to a Quilting circle than quilting. Only a woman truly knows.

Nice Backdrop

This is a great backdrop.  It helps me get into mind the communal style of living that Landburg enjoys.

...and I like the final line

There was more to a Quilting circle than quilting. Only a woman truly knows.

ps.  fixed some formatting space issues.

Thanks

I noticed the spacing thing, but couldnt figure out what I had done wrong. As always, you are doing the lifting and Im reaping the rewards. Thanks.

I really wanted to show that the women in the four rivers have as much say in what goes on as the men do. The Council of Elders and the Quilting Circle go about things in different ways, but over the generations, it has evolved into a pretty efficient system for a small town.

Why isn't the word 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds?
