This...thing appears to be a mass of swamp muck, plant material and other bits that have spontaneously decided to take a walk. It smells like a pile of rotting organic matter, which is pretty much what it is.

There are some legends among the locals of the swamp rising up and defending itself, but most ignore such things as the ramblings of crazed hermits that have spent too much time in the deep swamps.
