The Assault

Heatwave's picture

Inside the warehouse, the man setting up the weapon suddenly froze where he was and let out a scream.

Nick grabbed the power cable and gave it a sharp tug using his full strength. There was a shower of sparks as the cable caught on something and was ripped in two. The lights in the warehouse flickered. A split second later there was a shriek of tearing metal as an icy projectile ripped through the door followed by the sound of more tearing metal coming from above.

The men working on the floor scattered with startled cries having been assured there would be plenty of warning before the Olympians breached the building. One tripped as he ran and landed on the severed cable. Luckily for him he had avoided the exposed metal wires at the end. Another man, braver than the others, pulled a pistol from his belt and aimed it at the monstrosity coming through the roof.

The five-foot-one, hundred pound monstrosity surveyed the room as her eyes adjusted. The gunman was first in her thoughts so far. Dodging the shot should not be hard, but to ignore him would be stupid.

At the door Deep Freeze hurled himself through and dove to one side as soon as he cleared the opening. A quick look around and he spotted a man aiming a gun toward the roof. Following the trajectory Deep Freeze saw Osprey making her way down a beam.

Glaring at the thug aiming for Osprey, Deep Freeze raised his hand towards the man threateningly. "No dice, chump. Try some ice, instead!" A patch of frost formed swiftly under the thug's feet, attempting to entrap him.

The small patch of frost quickly expanded, first covering the man's boots, than his knees, than his waist. Soon it had covered his entire body, holding him securely in place and giving Osprey time to finish her decent.

Rolling his eyes at himself, Deep Freeze shifted his stance to prepare for his next move. "Damn, that was corny. I need to practice my witty superhero banter more."

"Nice one, Ice," Osprey gave a thumbs up sign.

Meanwhile, Tetris had found a long portion of the wall that had no doors or windows. Upon receiving the signal to go in, Tetris summoned his body armor and tossed a bright green brick at the top of the wall. As it hit the wall, that brick broke apart into thousands of smaller bricks, each absorbing into the wall and falling toward the bottom until it landed on another... building the wall into one of his own multicolored walls. Hoping that no one would be expecting an entrance along that wall, He stepped through.

Emerging on the other side of the wall, his bricks dropped into the ground like fog from a fog machine. With the wall back to its original structure, Tetris scanned for a target as his hand summoned a dull purple brick. With people running everywhere he had his choice, he only needed to decide which one.

Nick wasn't going to take any chances with an honest-to-god death ray, or whatever the hell the thing was. "That's a live wire there, people," he announced, carefully setting down the power cable. He took a running leap at the machine. His powerful legs propelled him through the air and onto the scaffolding, where he smashed his fist down onto the device.

Osprey smiled down and followed his cue. She dropped down from her perch toward the device at the last moment, she stabbed out one leg in a devastating kick. As she settled next to the machine, she sighed. "That felt good."

Outside, Damien's head flared with pain as he felt the mastermind's senses shut down. Damien's knees threatened to buckle as the feedback from his attack swept through his head. He slid into a crouch and leaned heavily against the door of his car. He focused only on bringing the pain under control. He hated showing any weakeness. Hated it with a passion. However, the events of the last 24 hours had taken their toll on him and he could only work through the pain.

After a few seconds, he keyed his coms. **Report**

**********
Osprey tried to make sure her Mic was working, "Machine is scrap, Boss." Only a little sarcasm showed on the last word.

With the mastermind out of commission the rest of the men put up little fight and were soon all in custody. The police were soon swarming the building and the Olympians were thanked for their help and told the police would be able to handle it from there.
