This file is open to all members of NextGen RPG. We'd like to encourage you to come in and poke around. Don't worry, you can't break us, even if you delete the text, everything can be recovered.

- Click into the game move to read it;
- When you are ready to edit it, click on the edit tab near the top, it's situated next to the view tab. (look at the top of this page, situated right under the Title - Sandbox, to locate your edit tab.)
- Find the spot in the game file where you would like to make your additions (add text, insert pictures, etc.).
- Use the text editor for any formatting as you add in your new content. (If you don't like the editor you can turn it off, below the text entry box.)
- Click Preview to make sure it's how you want it, and when it is, click Submit.

Questions?
If you have questions, feel free to write them here, and someone will be by to answer them shortly.
Give it a Test Drive! Have fun! Feel free to do some character banter or back and forth, to see how the games are run. Anyone can chime in, playing a character or the role of the Storyteller/GM. Only rule is that none of this actually happens to your character...just an opportunity for finding your character's voice.
There was a palpable buzz outside of the elegant Stewart Regency Hotel. The entry way of the lavish historical trademark had been adorned with plush red carpet, velvet red ropes and rich silver poles. White silken tapestries dressed up the antique appeal of the nearly one hundred year old, twenty-story, Victorian style establishment. Camera crews and reporters were gathered outside, in an organized sort of chaos as each rehearsed their lines, for the entertainment section, of the various media that they were there to represent.
The invitations that most of the guests received had been a mystery. They didn't know why they were invited or who was inviting them. Personalities and apprehensions ebbed throughout the crowd as they entered the hotel and the opportunity that the letter of invitation had hinted at.
Miguel clutched at his invitation, his hands shaking slightly in anticipation. It had only been a few years since his sister's death and a few months since his mother followed, broken by the man she had loved, the man who had turned into a monster in her eyes. Life had been hard after his father's fall from grace, and his family had paid, dearly, for his father's sins. His sister had broken first, committing suicide because she had found out that she, like her father, had abilities beyond the normal ken. She could read minds, and she feared that would make her a killer. She was partly right, only it was her own life she took. Miguel wondered idly how long before he cracked under the strain. The strain of being different, being a monster.
The morose young man was distracted from his internal reverie by a soft clearing of someone's throat. The line had ceased to move while he was lost in thought and he suddenly realized it had stopped because it was his turn to pass through security.
He took a slight step forward, the zipper of his overcoat clicked softly against the polished silver stand as he handed over his now wrinkled invitation. "Miguel Jones." he said, his voice sounding far away, as if coming from the opposite end of a long echoing hallway.
The security guard gave him a quick once over, his eyes registering the slightly disheveled black hair, the bangs that hung in the young man's eyes were clearly long past needing trimmed. The grey suit, under the long over coat was rumpled, as if it had been sitting in a hamper for days before being hastily thrown on. The black shoes had scuffs that were deep enough to show the leather underneath the dye. He shook his head slightly in distaste. The invitation was legit and the name matched the guest list, so he had nothing to say, though his expression showed he was clearly displeased with letting the young man through the doors.
Miguel swallowed nervously, aware of the guard's scrutiny and distaste at his appearance. He almost turned and ran from the disapproving look, but the guard bowed his head slightly, handed the invitation back to Miguel and waved him through. Miguel sighed softly, his breath trembling as he passed through the doors into the hotel's posh lobby. One obstacle down, only several thousand to go.
- Your turn.
Testing the editor. This is only a test. If this were not a test, this would be more poignant and funny.

People here can be funny?

Lets see if I can spell. This is a tets.
No :< Maybe if I clear my cache.
That worked now I get some nice underlining, although SCAYT does not think that tets could possibly equal test. Nor does it know its own acronym.
China: Very interesting on it not giving test as an option. I thought it was funny that it didn't know it's own acronym, I guess they didn't figure that people would be typing about it. AND I'm glad that clearing your cache fixed it. It also has no love for my '...' that I love to use so much.

...we have a few new people checking out the TORG game, so they might hop in if they want to give it a test drive.
If any of the new arrivals
If any of the new arrivals to the site, especially for those playing in the new Torg game, want to flex their muscles and try to get an idea of how this whole thing works, feel free to jump in here. You don't have to use your submitted character, feel free to make one up on ehte spot (like I did). This is a play ground, soemthign we can use to get a hang of the site.
As an aside, I've only recently (a few months) started usingthis particular format for playing/writing. I've been an avid face to face gamer for many years, and had gotten into PBEM about 6-8 years ago... Of them all, I prefer the method of gaming that's been created for this site. Actually, it's not much like gaming to me, as it is a form of collaborative fiction. It flows better, to me, than PBEM, as you can readily see the flow of the story instead of the bits and pieces you'd get in a PBEM.
Having had to edit (compile) many game moves, and trying to keep accurate voice and flow through the piece, I can honestly say, this form, where everyone sees it all, is much better in my opinion.
So Kudo's to China, KL, Bunty, Admelior and the gang for brining this little corner of writing goodness to life. I'm a lifer now!
Having had to edit
Hey D,
I just now saw this. Thanks so much.
---don't know how I missed it!
You're very welcome, Miss C.
You're very welcome, Miss C.
:) I like the format so much, I've actually taken to using google docs in similiar way to write jp's in other games. :)
The problem with that is
The problem with that is some of us don't like that format as unless we get some form of reminder it will just sit there.

Imagination is the seed of intelligence. Nourish it and watch it grow.
yes well there is that.
yes well there is that. :) I didn't say it was perfect, but it's a reasonable alternative..
JPs
JPs and blogs, don't have to be game specific here. So, if you want to post work into your blog or use the JP feature here for other games, you're welcome to do so.
We just ask that nobody floods the front page with a bunch at once. Not that they aren't welcome, just be courteous about how many you front page at once or edit them so that they aren't front paged.
As far as the JPs go, you can use them and delete them when you're done, or publish them. Just make a note that it was for another game, and maybe provide a link to said game in case anyone is interested in reading more about it.
I use the JP here to write for other games that I'm in and I don't see any reason that others can't use it if they're so inclined. Although it might be difficult to get your writing partner to agree unless they already have an account. ...but it's an option.
