CZ: In the Thicket of it.
The ground sloped gently downhill as Ash and Ryke made their way Westwards, the scrub trees and brush thicker in small areas, was easy to move through, and maintain a steady direction. After almost an hour, the two were able to learn a few more things bout their foes. The halfhorses could move much faster than the rest, and there were two of them. There were also ten of them total, though it took about four miles of tracking to figure out that two of them, would stop and move on all fours for hundreds of yards at a time.

It's Deja-Vu All Over Again
Panic has a face; it's looking at me right now
There's the shadow of defeat
Got to rise and bring those demons down
A chill wind blew across the top of the hill. No mournful singing disturbed the night's silence. Above them, countless stars shone brighter than they had ever seen before. The silent, shimmering, shapes of the Aurora Borealis streak across the sky, casting an eerie, shifting, light over the scene.

CZ: The Bluffs of Ga'their
The ground was fairly level heading east. Scrub woods and low rolling hillocks for a solid two miles. The mists had long since cleared, their chill forgotten as the sun shined warm on the three youths. Even their newfound armor and weapons seemed light, though their packs were a bit heavier than before. Making their way to the very top of the gulley, the view was breathtaking. The gully was a drain, a waterfall that ate its way back into the bluffs.

Some of the few
What do you do to make ends meet?
A narrow alley, about a hundred yards away from the Grey Tower. Two men tower over a small child. Each of the men wears a heavy leather hood, covering their faces completely. Branded onto the leather is the outline of a hammer superimposed over a hand. The child stands as tall as he can, no trace of fear in his face.
"You're sure?"

What is Happening Here?
Akio raised his lap top slightly and turned slowly. "This way," he said. He led the team down a small alley, the usual trash and vomit was somewhat obscured by the pounding rain. As they exited the other end of the alley, they saw Elias next to an attractive young woman who seemed to be cleaning his face. Nearby a man held a second man in some kind of armlock. The younger, cleaner man seemed to be talking, while the other man howled and twisted, trying to escape.
Akio stopped and stared for a moment, looking at his laptop. He muttered something in Japanese that Michiko could barely make out as, "More of them? How can this be?"

Bait & Switch: Part 8
It was touch and go once they made daylight and exited the cave. The not knowing as to when a sniper might decide to separate their head from their shoulders created a thick, slowing tension. But as they drew closer to the air/rafts and the seconds turned to minutes it became the general consensus that there either was no sniper or he'd decided to leave them alone.
Teagan stood close to Keese, arranging herself to help support the proud woman in his arms.

Scene 2 - Act 4: Meet Mandy
All six of their group were sitting around the wide-open living room area of the suite. Nine was rummaging through the plastic bags from radio Shack, occasionally mumbling a "yes" or a "hmm, that should work". Tom and Ghost had taken off their coats as Ghost finished giving his story about the girl in the lobby.

Episode 4 - The Dinner - Part III - Down to business.
Duvalle pushed himself away from the table and sighed contentedly. There was nothing like a good meal to break the ice. While there was still an uncertain edge to everyone, they had seemed to come together, briefly during the meal, sharing the experience with relish.
Only Elizabeth and Marco seemed to still be completely reserved. Though he didn't completely understand Marco's frame of mind, his emotions indicated he have been processing a similar shock as Liz.
Duvalle made a mental note to make an appointment with Marco to see about helping him through his troubles. There seemed to be something related to the young man's grandmother's death and funeral that still bothered him. Duvalle hoped he could help.

|George looked at his cards, looked up across the table, and back at the cards. He bit his lip. Finally he asked, "Does a straight beat a flush?"
Edison tried not to smile. His partner looked like a twenty-something hipster, but sometimes acted a lot younger. Point one: George had blown off his friends, who were going to a club to pretend to listen to droning electronica, to hang out and play cards. Point two: He wanted to play poker, just like his father. Point three: They did this almost every month, and George still couldn't remember how to play.
