Agent Short and Justin were on their way before Brice departed on a purposeful and brisk walk.  Agent Showalter lingered only a short bit in the apartment before dragging Jahck on a slow walk around the complex.  The place seemed pretty quiet and normal.  Without the yellow tape near the scene of the crime itself, one would never know that something had happened there other than the occasional screaming match between a mother and her teenage daughter or a husband and wife over why the bills didn't get paid.

"Jahck," Agent Showalter said after coming back to the apartments near the scene of the crime.  "If you were living in a place like this, how much contact do you think you'd have with all your neighbors?  How much interest would you have in paying attention to what was going on in the apartment next to you, below you, diagonal from you other than what you could hear through the walls?"

"Besides the occasional conversation, while outside smoking, I don't think I would care to much what was going on around me," Jahck replied thinking back to any time he had ever spent in an apartment complex of similar build.

"Exactly.  Our guy chose this place for anonymity.  I think it's safe enough to through a a little power around."  Agent Showalter touched Jahck lightly on the side of the neck, very quickly and stepped out of the way.  Jahck was suddenly seeing the world in double.  The world that he inhabited, the present, contained all the attire of the room including the agent and himself.  The other world was in the past.  A man was sitting on the couch reading a book, it appeared to be "Five Families".  There was a knock at the door and he shoved the book underneath the couch.  He stood and walked to the door.  As he looked through the peephole, he looked panicked.  He looked around and the door knob rattled.  There were some words exchanged and the guy begrudgingly opened the door.  The trio that walked in were the same that had been at the caverns.  

The scenes that followed in this previous time were the death of the man, the appearance of a new actor at the door with a cellphone and the chase from the apartment.  At which point the scene ended and Agent Showalter was taking a stick of gum from a pocket and popping in her mouth.  "What did you see?  Get any clues?"
