The World has since breathed a collective sigh of relief as the Mayan calendar has flipped over and the doomsday events have not happened.  The scientific advances in the year of 2012 for some areas were significant as there was a race between major world powers to develop means of survival during cataclysmic events or means of averting disaster for its citizens.  Russia's use of deep peat to support bio fuels for space travel have boosted their economy as well as the space programs of the United States and Russia.  Talk of a second Soviet Union and the benefits of a new Communism are lighting up blogs the world over.

Material's technology for survival was ramped up as early as 2009 in secret and in the public sector at the end of 2011.  The lightweight, insulated, non-breathing materials developed from studying the skin of extreme deep sea large animals has led to the naming of the material they've facilitated, Polyrene-DS.  Environmentalists are however up in arms over the non-green material and some have joined forces with PETA to protest the treatment of mother nature's deep sea animals.

The politcal climate after the calendar turned over from 2012 to 2013 has stabilized as doomsday prediction specialist are hastily trying to figure out what went wrong.  Pope Clement XV predicts a new era of peace and prosperity and an increase in the faith.  North Korea, after the death of Kim Jong Il, the government experienced a coo by a leader named Yang Thae-shi who immediately struck deals with the US and Russia to be a base of science and power.

It seems that throughout all the major changes in the world, the one that is not coming to light, but lurks in the darker realm of e-legend and i-myth are the rumors of the supers.  A brief flurry of news stories hit the world of a man in Northern China who could make objects disappear and reappear somewhere else.  Three days after the stories appeared he disappeared and it was rumored to be a hoax.  That was mid-January.  Later in March, the United States had a man appear who was thought dead in a mine collapse in the state of West Virginia.  The man talked about moving stones out of the way and as news crews flocked to the area, the man could no longer be found.  Also chalked up as a hoax.

Youtube has some examples of people doing weird things but are often proved to be tricks of video editing and are frequently dismissed.  But other more local news stories receive one minute of fame before being compared to the other disappearing wonders.  Only the off-the-map conspiracy theorists are trying to point to a pattern of news stories about superpowers that suddenly disappear from the map and are blaming government coverups.  The governments around the world hold an official position, "There is no such thing as Superpowers.  The men and women we love to read about in Comic books are not real."
