This is a reminder more than news.  :)  ...but since we've had some new folks joining us recently, I wanted to bring it up again.

Remember that nearly all of the blocks on NextGen RPG are customizable.  You can turn blocks on and off in your control panel, under the Edit Tab.  Please take a look at the bottom of this post for an explanation of what each block is.  If you have an idea for a content block that isn't available and you would like to see, just let me know.

In addition, the MyGames table at the bottom of your MyGames page, will save your default settings.  Simply select the games that you WANT to see, and that is all that will show up in your games overview table.  This is especially useful for those of you that lurk in some games. (Remember to use Control Key to select multiple items)

If any of the side blocks become overwhelming (new game moves, new blog content) or if you don't have them and want them, this can also be turned on and off in your control panel.

For those of you who don't use the MyGames page, I strongly urge you to check the forum every day in addition to your game blocks, to make sure that you don't miss your game related forum posts.  If you're using your MyGames page, they will show up in your game queue.

The new block for 'Random FAQ', that is located on the MyGames page, can also be turned off in your control panel.  Just remember that you have this option when you see knew blocks becoming available.

  • Block Configuration - This is the place that you go to turn on and off the blocks of content that are located in the left hand Navigation Column and My Games Page.  Most of the blocks are set as on off default, but please feel free to customize this to your liking.  Following are instructions on how to turn them on/off, as well as descriptions of each of the blocks.
    • Scroll down to Block Configuration
    • Place a checkmark next to the blocks that you want to see.  Descriptions to follow.
      •  Optional: new_update_book: Block - This will eventually disappear after you click through all the content.  Once that happens you will ONLY see this block if there is new or updated content since your last move.  Similar functionality can be found on the My Games page.
      •  Optional: new_update_blogs: Block - This will eventually disappear after you click through all the content. Once that happens you will ONLY see this block if there is new or updated content since your last move. Similar functionality can be found on the My Games page.
      • Recommended: new_update_forum: Block - This only shows in the forum and will eventually disappear after you click through all the content, or mark all as read. Once that happens you will ONLY see this block if there is new or updated content since your last move.
      • Recommended: my_games_favorite: Block - This only appears in your My Games Page.  It provides a quick search table on all Next Gen content.
      • Recommended: Book Navigation: Block - This appears in your game moves and blog pieces that are assigned to a book outline.  It will show the book outline of your game in the left hand column, under the Navigation Information.
      • Optional: Random FAQ - This block adds a random list of 5 FAQs to your MyGames page.  Very good idea for new members.
      • Optional: Recent_ImageContent: Block - Shows the last five uploaded image links
      • Optional: Dice Roller - Block that contains the die roller
      • Optional: Counter - This block shows only on the front page, and gives PHP Site Stats.
      • Optional: Most recent poll - disappearing block, it will only show poll content if there are some
      • Optional: Who's Online
      • Optional: Who's New
      • Optional: Latest Image
      • Optional: Random Image
