High Fantasy, Brought Low.

The sky turned red, the ground split, the oceans flooded, fire rained down, mythical beasts awoke and magic lashed out. When the Night of Fire ended, nine out of every 10 people in Scondera were dead. The Long Winter killed countless more.

This is going to be the backdrop for my next project, and this forum is open to any questions about the rules or the setting.

Oh...just to clarify, Desolation isn't MY project.  Smile

...but it'll be the backdrop for my next project that I'll be doing at NextGen.

So, don't think my ambition is tooooooo high.

Blinder of a setting.  Love

Blinder of a setting.  Love it.  I'm in their bad books at the moment as I've a half-finished project for their website that I'm desperately trying to find the time to complete.

The dice roller block on the site here is already set up for Ubiquity, so when you're ready...

I didn't say...game....exactly

I will likely be running it, but it's more a project than a game, very much a joint effort.  It will be using the game mechanics, which is the ubiquity system, super easy to pick up.  And it has a fairly free form magic system, that really discourages the willy nilly use of magic, but allows a spell caster complete freedom to create their own spell affects.

I actually want to play with perspectives and write it like a book.  I'll elaborate on it more, once I have it all written up.  I'm looking for a small group, probably of about five, that enjoy the fantasy genre and would entertain publishing it once we were done (IP willing), and all the heavy editing that would be involved to get to that place.  ..but most of all, have a good time writing something that we can all be proud of.

This is assuming my enthusiasm holds out, so far so good.  :)  To be honest my head hasn't stopped spinning about the idea since GenCon.  This setting really inspires me because it is a blank slate, they created this rich robust world and then destroyed it.  So you can literally do anything you want with it, even the terrain is an open book.

I also know the creators of the setting and one of them has offered to help in any way that he can as I move forward with this.  So....  I'm not ready to make a call yet but at the same time, I had to do something, cuz the idea needed an outlet before it short circuited my brain.

I doubt they'll be sending anyone out to break your legs, yet.  *grin*  If they get too rough, let me know and I'll explain your priorities to them.  Laughing out loud

(Family, Work, NextGen, NextGen, playtime, NextGen)  Kidding!

Seriously, though.  What are you working on for them?

I know.  I've been dying to actually play in a game since it was released in 2008, but had zero luck finding anyone interested in running a text based game.  ..um...  here.  Smile  Cuz, I reallly wanted one ran here and not over a Yahoo group.  But, I gave up.  Figured the only way I was gonna get to experience the setting was to run with it myself.
