Richard, based on what we talked about I put together the beginnings of a guide book. I couldn't quite remember the permission scheme we came up with when we changed it to allow for certain pages only being seen by certain people and had to create a page anyway to see what they were.
I'll have to go over the permissions and assigning the pages to the correct book menu but other than that it's the same as creating a blog post or JP.
Right now only the creator of the guidebook can make changes by default. Only the pages I created I changed the permissions to allow anyone signed on as a contributor can make changes and you can delete anything.

I have things ready for you guys to post stuff. Please place your stories in the appropriate section by decade. You do that by scrolling down to book outline when you create your content and click under Justice Patrol until you get to the right decade.
I have posted a story that takes place in 1909, and I have moved the Doctor Nocturne story to the appropriate spot. I should have a couple of more stories posted soon. Right now I'm just writing scatter shot to get some coverage over the timeline. I'll concentrate on story arcs once we get some meat on these timeline bones.
So, what are you still doing here. Go write stuff!
When creating a page for any element in the game please create them as guidebook pages and not blogs or game pages. There are a few reasons for this: 1) It makes them easier to keep together and find. 2) by default guidebook pages are not promoted to the front page and we prefer to save that real estate for actual stories and administrative notices. 3) Permissions for guidebooks work a bit differently than for other content on the site being more like JPs than blogs. 4) They allow the GM to edit for consistency.
To create a guidebook use the following steps.
1. Go to Create Content and select Guide Page
2. Title and Story fields must be filled in, Guidebook field is optional
3. Write or copy/paste your content
4. Click on Book Outline to expand it
5. Under Book select Justice Patrol. This will bring up a new field called Parent Item
6. Under Parent Item scroll down until you find Justice Patrol Almanac then select the correct category for your entry.
7. Save page
8. Click on the Access Control tab
9. Under the Edit Any Content column check the JPAT - GM box
9a. (optional) Under the Edit Any Content column check the JPAT - Player box (do this only if you want to allow other players to edit your entry. This is good for shared elements of the world)
10. Under the Delete Any Content column check the JPAT - GM box
11. (optional. Only used if you do not want all JPAT players to be able to edit the entry but would like to grant one or more others permission to edit the piece. If all JPAT players should be able to edit follow step 9a instead) Click on Grant Update Status and enter the username of the person you're adding and click Add User. Repeat adding username and clicking Add User until everyone is added.
12. Click the Submit Button
This is nearly identical to our procedure for creating JPs so if you know how to create one of those you should have no problem. If you have any questions or need help please contact me and I'll be happy to walk you through it.

Just a heads up. I've noticed some of you with GM permissions are creating stories as game pages. Please remember if you do this the story can be edited by anyone with privileges for the game.
Only Richard should be creating game pages for this game. All other stories should be blog entries if only one person will be working on it or JPs if by more than one person.
Richard, you have one story where some parts are blog entries and some are games pages. Would you like me to convert the game pages to blog entries, or vise versa, so they are consistent?

I notice that comments from "Soldier Boy" keep going into the to-be-approved queue. Don't have time to look into it right now. KL, you don't happen to know off the top of your head how to fix that, do you? I'm guessing it's a permissions issue...I'll poke around tonight.

Is there a way then to change the Blog Entries to a Guidebook page?
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
Yes, admins can convert content types. I already got the one you posted.

Let's make them blog pages.
Sorry for the flood of updates. I just converted some pages over to guidebooks for consistency and to make them easier to find.

His account just has to be approved for comments. It's a role just like for any of the games. I'll fix it right now.
