Hey folks,

I'm gauging interest in a low-powered, TeenTitans-esque DC game... might be in it's own game world, might be in the TCQ one if China is willing, and it definitely will be more tongue in cheek than TCQ is while still being a bit shady. I'm thinking four to five characters, just gettin their feet wet at this hero thing.

The animated Teen Titans is a really good template to spring from when gauging whether this game is right for you.

Thoughts?

Vic

My world is definitely open to any creation you want to make.  I'm pretty much envisioning it to have the extra cities that exist in the Champions Universe.  (Millenium City, Hudson City, etc. etc.)  But you can plop your idea anywhere you want into that world.  But unless you want to collaborate super close with me, it would be best to stay out of Jersey.  Smile

I'm trying really hard to say that I'm not interested, because I know I've been sucking lately.  But to be honest, this excites me.  So, I am interested!  ...and if I can crawl out of my hole of delinquency and sucktitude, I'll get you a submission.

Are you actually thinking of a high school/teen game?  Or is it just the mood that you're pointing out?

I think i'd like to have it

I think i'd like to have it in the same gameworld, so yay! Definitely not in the same city though, as Jersey isn't big enough for the both of us :)

I'm thinking more that's the mood I want - teenagers I'm not so into, but new, fresh heroes/heroines who may be a little unsure of themselves is right on the money. There's most likely be an NPC benefactor as well.

Yeah, my Quistadorees would eat them alive...on accident, of course.  :)

Anywhere else in the world, real or Champions fictional will do.  Or even a city of your creation...we just have to make sure that it's included in the world history of my campaign as well, if you go with a fictional one.  For consistency sake is all.  We could even do a higher level world guidebook, if'n we're so motivated.

But the cool thing about sharing a world, is it allows for possible crossovers.  Even if it's just in history pieces, trivial mentions, and such.  I'm excited about the idea, I am.

Excellent!  I have one teen character in play...so the idea of playing an actual teenager, wasn't hitting the spot.  But the rest of it feels really good.  Like I said...I'm a bit more reluctant than KL and Thrak, but only because I gots ta get my arse in gear before I expand.  But I'm workin' on it.  Smile

IF...

IF you do decide to move forward with this, just send me a PM.  Here is a list of questions from the FAQ that will help me set up your pages.  No pressure, I'd just like to have the game pages set up before an official game call is made.

Just skip anything that feels redundant or out of date.  :)

  1. What's the name of your game?
  2. A blurb for your game, a short synopsis of some sort that gives me some insight about it. (example: Hudson City - Where Heroes Lose Their Innocense)
  3. What system will you be using to run it, or if it will be free form.
  4. What tools do you need that we don't have on the site to help you run it better?
  5. A sample of your casting call, if you have one prepared. ( http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/what-makes-good-casting-call )
  6. Will this be a full fledged campaign, or a short one-off story.
  7. If this will be associated with another campaign, like in the same universe, let me know so that I can start brainstorming about ways to make it easy for all GMs involved to keep track of the campaigns in your shared world.
  8. Lastly, let us know what we can do to help you get your game off the ground.

Damn you and your sexy

Damn you and your sexy campaign ideas.

BTW, when you say Teen Titan-esque, does that mean action oriented with a sense of humor and an anime style theme song?

I want to play too!

Hey do you have room for one more? I have a teen character that used to be in the Global Guardians Universe.

Houston: We are OK for lift off

Ok.

I'm gonna do this. (thanks to John for lending me the sourcebook)

Here's where my head is currently:

Think modern day League of Gentlemen, but with low-powered supers. The characters do not have to be some "hey, I thought that guy/girl was fictional!" type, but the benefactor will be.

I'd like the PC's to be mainly young-ish (early to mid-twenties), with the allowance of one older person should a player choose to do so.

I'd like the PC's powers to be heavily themed - IE You do one thing really really well, and are just beginning to discover that there may be flexibilty/other powers growing within you. No Supermen/Supergirls or heavy gadgeteers just yet. I will be VERY picky about this, so expect to be challenged during character review.

Starting points will be 150, plus 50 more for disads.

If *any* of your stats go beyond human maximum, you aren't human anymore... and i'll want to know why Smile

Given the above guidance, go nuts with your concept. I'm not ruling anything else out - you can be an alien. You can be from another dimension, or a robot, or... have fun! VPP's will be very small to start, and I'll be dissecting the hell out of them to make sure they fit to your theme. One day you might be Dr. Strange or Dr. Fate, but you definitely aren't yet.

I'm not capping power active costs in any way. If you want to spend a hundred of your points on something, go for it. Just don't try and be Einstienin with the maths (IE: Min Maxing or munchkanisim) or i'll hurt you. (evil laff)

I'll be basing them out of 'some city', which I haven't decided on yet. It will most likely be a small city though, and this location choice won't hamper the teams ability to get pretty much anywhere fast (more on that later in the game).

There will be the odd recurring big-bad, and lots and lots of low-powered one-offs and minions. Lots of minions. But a bullet should most likely be a threat, unless your powers are defense based.

Theme is fairly four-color, with the odd foray into drama - but this should be more light-hearted than soap-opera.

I'm going to, since China gave me the OK, set this in the TCQ universe. So that can open up all kinds of fun for later cross-overs.

Don't sign up for this game if you can't commit - I know we all say that there's no problem with commitment at the beginning, and people are engaged and posting like mad in the first few months... but if you think you can't commit to a nice turnaround rate, then don't apply. I'll remove you if you make other PC's wait a week, plain and simple. That being said, vacations and illness and such happen, and will result in me NPC'ing you as opposed to making people wait. If you've got a history of just checking out for long periods then please reconsider applying. I say this not to be an asshole, but because there's no nicer way to say it. And because I tend to be blunt.

And occasionally an asshole :)

And that's what I'm a'thinkin

Close, yeah... action-oriented, i'm going to try and infuse lots of laughs, and 100 exp to the person who comes up with an original anime-style theme song (not just lyrics, but the whole youtube experience) :)

Sounds good, me friend.

Will you be wanting me to post this off site for recruitment, or are you wanting to stick with on site interest that you've received so far?  Just throw it in the PM with all the other stuff.  Smile

As I mentioned a little further up the post, I'm not looking for teen pc's, but more new, just starting out heroes and heroines. Up the age into the early-to-mid-twenties, and we can go from there.

Well alright. As long as you don't stick us with a bisexual con man from the 51st century who became immortal  and used to hang out with an ancient alien with sound based tool and a dimensionally transcendental ship.

Fair? Smile

At least he knew enough about him to describe him well enough for people to figure out who he was talking about.

You're up...

Ready when you are, Torchy.

No hurry or anything, but the other GM casting has closed their call and made their casting decision.

So, when you are ready get me the stuff from post #7 in this thread and I'll get your pages together.

Got it!

Got it.  I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, and as long as that doesn't leave me in too much pain, I should get the pages set up.
