//While hunting for loot in the ghost world, your crew was sold out. You've walked right into an ambush, with hungry Wraiths on your heels.

Just learned about this neat little game called Ghost/Echo. It is very minimalist, with two pages of rules that include evocative art that is meant to get your creative juices flowing. I think it sounds like a fun game for creative folk who want something fast and loose. I am wondering if there are 2-3 other people who would like to give it a try?

I imagine a fast and fun story, with no GM, that is highly cooperative and collaborative. There isn't really any setting in the rules, just a starting point, so people need to be able to cooperate and communicate both in-story and on the meta level. If you get the "yes, and..." principle, I want to hear from you.

My ideas, in addition to the rules, are:

that this is a one-shot with events that take place over the course of a single night;
that the pace should be fast, and players should be able to post at least three times a week;
that we have drive and get started no later than next weekend;
that this is an experiment in jazz - no character sheets or other pre-prep, we just start and see what happens.

Well?

Sounds like the sort of thing I'd enjoy working on, shall we let the discussions begin, or do you really just want to jump right in and free-style?

If so, then the question is: who wants to start it off?  I'd be happy to, but I don't want to deny anyone else... Wink

I wish I could, sounds

I wish I could, sounds seriously fun.  But we all know that I'm sucking right now.

Need to get my current ducks in a row.

I'm eager to see this go if you guys want to, but lets do it right, and let me (or KL/Bunty) set up a story taxonomy for it and such.  Cuz even one shots can last a long time and it'll help keep things organized.

I don't think Bunt or KL use the My Games page, but Onk and others might.  So I'll put together the view for the My Games page.  AND...you might want a forum?  Up to you, but if you'll be collaborating backstage you might like one.

Wow, what's that like?!

Actually, now that I think about it maybe we should have a brainstorming session before we dive in. Try to get energized and agree on some very basic stuff. Does that make sense? What say all?

Should give it a few more days too, and see if anyone else nibbles. I have an intuition that this will work best with a small group - Iwas thinking 3 or 4. But if a lot of people are interested we can get two stories going in parallel.  Double woot!

Maybe this will get you all jazzed up?

Sweet, thank you. I can do the other stuff but I'm way rusty on the views.

Well, if you're rusty, you might should do it.  *grin*  Just clone an existing one and change the taxonomy.

Then go to blocks and enable it (place it with the others in alpha order), only for the player and GM roles of the new taxonomy.

And last, make sure that it ONLY shows up on the My Games page.

...or I could do it.  :)  If you like being rusty.

So we're up to four people,

So we're up to four people, which sounds like a good number to me. If anyone else wants in, I think we'll have to consider breaking into two groups; I'm afraid something this freeform will get unwieldy with a big group.

What I'd like to do next is get us all together in real time, in the chatroom or on DimDim or Skype, for a quick review of the "rules", some brainstorming, and perhaps setting some parameters. My preference would be DimDim, or something else with a whiteboard. I know scheduling this is going to be tricky and I'm guessing we won't be able to do it till next weekend. I'm totally open next Saturday, and I'm pretty sure I can rearrange my Sunday as needed.

I'm getting excited for this little experiment!

Yeah, this week is a total

Yeah, this week is a total wash-out for any real-time interaction thanks to a heavy workload. This coming weekend is Easter, so my availability isn't clear (someone has to hide those furshlugginer eggs, don't'cha know?)

Once we get closer to the days, I'll have a better picture.

Pretty much any day is good

Pretty much any day is good for me. I prefer Skype or the chat room but only because I wouldn't have to install something on my computer I'll rarely use. If the consensus is DimDim can someone point me in the right direction for it? I'm too lazy to Google it. Smile

DimDim is easy, you just point your browser to their website. I've only used it once though, I should spend a bit of time with it this week. Would be cool to hear everyone on Skype.

I didn't mean talk on Skype,

I didn't mean talk on Skype, I don't have a microphone. LOL

I use the chat room feature of Skype for a war game I'm in and that's the only reason I even have it installed.

Well, we definitely can't get

Well, we definitely can't get together if people don't say when they're free.    I'm going to email everyone a link to a meeting scheduler, and let's see if we can make it work. I don't want to belabor the point, so let's say that if we can't meet by the end of  next weekend, we'll settle for an asynchronous discussion.

It's been more than a week

It's been more than a week since I asked folks to let me know if/when they could be available for a virtual meeting. Only one person did so. No one else has expressed reservations, or indeed anything at all. I think there just isn't enough enthusiasm to get this going. No worries, it was a vague and crazy idea.

Maybe I should try for something more structured on my next silly idea.

 I just find it pretty

 I just find it pretty difficult given my timezone, having trouble sychronising with players on my other games too.  The basic concept was awesome, though, I had lots of ideas...

Abandoned

I think the idea was abandoned due to questionable interest.  Smile

At least that's the last I heard.  Of course, Bunty probably just found something shinier and is off chasing that.  *grin*

Welcome Citizen!  Serious apologies on the delayed membership.  We went through a major site migration, and the verification email process was broken.

Alas no, the stars were not aligned. I'd like to come back to it someday though. It seems really cool.

Welcome aboard, by the way!
