Story sale!
Now it can be told!
For the last three or four months I've been writing and submitting stories to various markets. Old fashioned paper magazines as well as on-line publishers. Science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance and erotica markets. Whatever I felt like writing and was trying to sell.
On July 4th I got an email from an editor for one of the online publishers saying that she was thinking of making a contract offer for the story I'd sent them but that she needed to be sure it was still available. It was--I don't do simultaneous submissions. I emailed her back immediately to let her know that yes, it was still available.
And I do mean immdiately. My return email went out about four minutes after I received hers. (I was at my computer when it appeared in my in-box.) I waited anxiously for a reply.
Nothing. Not that evening. Not the next day. Nor any day for the next TWO WEEKS!
As near as I can tell, sending that email to me was the last thing she did before she left the office for two weeks on vacation! Tonight she finally got back to me. With an contract offer.
So I have now officially sold a story! A superhero story, no less! A story starring Iron Maiden (whom those of you from the late lamented LCG site, or who've read my TCQ side stories recently may remember). It won't appear for several months, but it will be published eventually. Go me!

Well done, good sir!
Be sure to post a link and/or details of the publication when you have them. I'm sure there are more of us who aspire to such things and we could use the inspiration.
Again, well done!
That's awesome! Congratulations!
How exciting! Gongratulations.
Wow. That's great! Well done.
Dare I ask where the story will appear? Or don't you know? Or are things still vague or being negotiated?
There's hope for me yet! Well done!
Congrats!!
How many pages was it? *grin*
Tell us more!!
We all want to read it, too, so we can hopefully say, "I can do that, too!"
You will be an inspiration to us all. :)
Congratulations!
Thanks for the congrats--to all of y'all.
It'll be at Cobblestone-Press.com, an online publisher of romance and erotica. It's not the first such story I've submitted somewhere, though it's the first I've sold. I don't know when it'll go live, but it'll probably be several months. I get some input on the cover illustration, which form I still need to send back to them, and then the art has to be done and the manuscript edited. So...a while yet.
But don't doubt that I'll let people know when it's available!
Congratulations. That's good news.

Dude!!
congratulations! Time to get the writing-cap firmly glued to my head.....
<turns green with envy> And yet another of my gaming co-horts gets published. God job mang! Glad to see there's hope yet!
Thanks!
Of course, the universe looks out for me. In order to make sure I don't get a swelled head, it arranged for me to receive TWO form rejection letters in the mail this past Saturday. You know, just to keep me humble.
I immediately sent those stories out to next markets on the list. (Robert Heinlein's Rule # 5: Keep the story in circulation until somebody buys it.)
And it wasn't really those rejections, but this week I'm dealing with the annoying voices in my head--the ones that tell me I can't do this, that I'll run out of ideas, or won't be able to write well enough to make them work, or or or....
They're annoying. They're wrong. I've BEEN writing. I've BEEN submitting stories. And I've actually sold one. But those negative voices are persistent little bastards. I'll stifle them, but it's a struggle.
Good for you Sin. Seriously.
Keep that positive outlook.
