Whoo-hoo!!
You might want to create a book, and assign it to The Conquistadors, just to make sure. Then delete it when you're done. Or make yourself useful and copy over the latest Purifier Move, from the edit screen at LCG. :help:
you beat me to the punch on that one, I think...
Something else I could do maybe?
Added Player TCQ privileges for:
Obsidian Jaguar
Lem (Lem = Mason/Archon/Robb)
I did parts 1-6.
I did parts 1-6.
Thanks!
Here is a list of our colors. Please note that Red, DodgerBlue, and Navy are available again.
Lem, I need you to pick your color for Mason. And Thrakazog, I need you to pick your color for Stone.
Everyone, there might be some frustration with using color and the text editor. If you're having a difficult time finding your color, please try this.
1. Select your text you want colored.
2. Go to the Text color box - indicated with a T next to it.
3. Click on 'More' colors at the bottom.
4. Type in your color - example GoldenRod
5. Hit 'Tab', enter might work as well.
6. Click 'Okay'.
This will select your preferred color.
If you prefer coding to using the editor, you can turn off your 'Editor' in your 'Control Panel'. Or underneath the 'text entry box', if it's something you prefer only on occasion.
If that works...
Navy it is, for Mason/Aarchon
Thrak? You want red? ...that's like a totally popular color. :)
It seems as though the color codes for this particular game has phased itself out. Which is fine by me. I prefer it actually because it's less maintenance on the GM's end.
I want to make a note though, I do realize that the highlighting utility that we're using is still falling short of what we'd like for it to do. I'm continuing to pursue the avenues available to me to see if we can optimise that further for our site. I don't have anything promising to report yet, but it's not something that I've given up on.
The two main issues are document locking and the frustration of having to flip through multiple edits if you've been away for a while.
On the locking issue, please please make sure that IF you are viewing a previous revision, that you don't shut the site or walk away. You need to navigate away from the revision file or it will stay locked in your name. ...and will be very frustrating for anyone else trying to edit or view the file revisions.
On the subject of the tedious nature of cycling through the old revisions, trust me, it's high on our priority list. I need to install the most recent patch of inline diff on the test site, and after I see what it adds, I'll write up some additional functionality requests for the module's support group. KL, has also invested in some books and is going to see if it's something that she can contribute to. Thing is, she has a lot on her plate right now. I just want to make it clear, that while we're aware of and share your frustrations, this isn't likely to be a quick fix.
For some reason I don't think of paging through revisions as a bother. It helps me see how the story evolves. I'm going to be so bold as to say I likes it.
It's a nice feature to have access to, that's for sure. ...but I wish we could bypass the necessity for it on the default screen. Not losing the ability to still use it, if someone wants to, but if you're in a hurry - for it to show everything since your last visit.
Nestor,
Sorry for the inconvenience, I added you to the TCQ Game as a Player, so you should be able to edit the file now. Totally slipped my mind earlier. In addition, if you use the My Games page, you'll see the New TCQ Content block. It will likely be bursting with stuff you haven't read. Please don't feel the need to catch up, that would be a daunting task, the newest stuff will always be at the top.
Welcome aboard!
You underestimate my hunger for fiction, my dear lady! True, I did skip a lot of the side stories, but I have avidly devoured the Season One submissions and am now ready to jump in!
I'll repeat to the group at large what I sent to China as a PM. I find myself paraphrasing Scotty from the recent Star Trek movie:
"I loike this team! It's exciting!"
I'm excited to have you with us. :)
Now, if he can only go for one comment without using emoticons...
(Pages through a well worn copy of "Emoticons: Satan's Smiling Minions")
But I love the little beasties!
Who's my little emoticon?
You are! Yes, you are!
Y'know what we need? Animated emoticons!
I say we use that emoticon energy and instead put him in charge of our broken Emoticon Inventory.
I'll take Navy for Stone, then. I mean, if I absolutely have to post in color.
Sober up, already!
:) I think we phased colors out of the game.
Um, yeah. OK.
Okay, I'm lost.
Hey Guys n Gal,
We have some developments that I wanted to share with the group. JShowell has become increasingly busy with real life and is bowing out of his responsibilities on the site. He will no longer be assisting me in the AGM role, nor will he be playing Raphael DiSantiago. We wish him our best, and he's of course welcome whenever he wants to return!
Now...on to the nuts n bolts.
Vic is going to help me with some behind the scenes stuff. He won't be co running with my like Jason did, because, it has come to my attention that I'm a control freak about game moves. And Jason, bless his heart, was beyond accommodating with me, but I think I'd drive anyone else crazy with my control issues.
What he is going to do, is help me with the DiSantiago side of things, so some future posts that you see, written by Vic, are indeed game fiction. If he's speaking for Angelo or Javier in the post, then he's speaking with GM level authority. I found that I became far more entrenched that I expected in Phi, and need a balancing voice to help with the family, to make sure that they come off as the cunning master minds that they are. Who knows, maybe we'll actually get a family tree. *grin*
Darren has been a long time lurker to the Conquistador Game, is familiar with the story, characters and has written with several of you. He will be joining us on a part time basis, and taking over the role of Mason. As those of you know that follow the Payback thread, there was some serious excitement surrounding Mason's exit from the thread. I have spoken to Darren and have found a good way to get the player back in playable condition, even if he won't be smiled upon by all of the Conquistadors.
Darren, I will be granting you Player level privileges shortly.
There was some genuine interest from people wanting to take over the role of Orion. I have selected someone and am currently bringing him up to speed on the game, character and our playing style. His handle is Russ Bear, and his enthusiasm right now is very high. He's read a great deal of the stuff for the game and is continuing to catch up. So, when he joins us, be sure to give him a warm welcome.
Andy, when he was with us, focused so much of his attention on the wonderful fiction pieces, that he never got around to filling out the assignments. So you will likely see Russ filling out things like his profile section and various guide book page items. I'm hoping that Orion will become a big part of the game again, like he was originally envisioned to be. We all need to be forgiving, especially myself, on character inconsistencies. These are bound to happen when a character changes hands and we will account for them as best we can in the story.
Russ, I've granted you lurker level privileges and as soon as we're on the same page with everything, I'll grant you player level privileges so that you can edit game moves and such! I'm very eager to include you as we move forward.
Both the Dilemma and Loony Bin portions of the latest moves have come to a conclusion and I will be beginning the aftermath stuff very soon.
In addition, Xavier Relaford, played by Aaronymous will continue with the game on a part time story basis. He will be available for JPs and side pieces and such, but is unassociated with the team. ...AND to be quite honest, not a huge fan of the Conquistadors at the moment. :)
Thank you guys for sticking with these threads and bringing them to conclusion!
Well, talk about mixed emotions. I'm sad that JShowell can't continue...but glad that Orion will still be around...but sad about JShowell...but glad that Xavier isn't going anywhere...but sad about JShowell....but excited about fresh blood...but sad about JShowell....
Its an emotional rollercoaster!
I'm gonna miss Jason, but I respect a persons priorities.
Why isn't the word 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds?
Hey, I thought I would introduce myself here, briefly, while I'm still learning the ropes in this forum.
I'm Russ, and long time roleplayer (started with original D&D and Traveller), turned PBEM writer (cut my teeth on Star Trek sims, taking over the USS Knight 4141 after about eight months, and running it for about six years), turned writing a bit of everything. While I am not familiar with this forum, I am familiar with quality gaming/collaborations, and with a variety of forms of collaborative writing (even studied it a bit in grad school).
I followed some of the stories of this group briefly, last summer, when I was too busy to consider even THINKING about joining something this complex. Well, I've had more time on my hands... So I responded to an advert China posted, and got sort of excited when I looked up some of the stories about Raphael.
Being me, I tested the waters by writing my own 'character piece', a story, or the start of one, that may one day, in some form, now, grace this group. But first, Chain is putting me through what amounts to Boot Camp.
And I thought I had it rough before. Let me tell you, as if you don't know, China is a harsh and demanding training mistress, though her humor and care and craft make that all a bit less painful
Since I like to demand a lot from myself, this is actually a bit fun, between the growing pains. Now, I'm not going to be able to pull off the character of Raph quite the way either of the previous Raph-writers did, but I hope I'll be able to mix some serious with some serious fun, and both deepen the mystery and explore the unseen elements of the character.
My proving ground for this probably going to be the rocky roaad that stated with the post "Duty". I volunteered, can you believe it?
In any event, I am hoping to write with each and every one of you at various times, once I build my understanding and develop my writing stance for Raphael. I'm catching up on the assignments nobody ever completed for him. I'll probably be in touch with a few of you, about character interactions that may have happened during the three month training period for the Conquistadores.
Don't expect me to run at your fast, though. This is the first campaign I've been in for years, that makes me have to take baby steps.
I'm already filling in some past history of Raphael, and may eventually take a crack at that unfinished story and how Raph may have used it to make his own break from being the family 'Dog", to being, well, something more like a free man.
Expect him to be a bit more witty, and to occasionally push his limits. I suspect he always did, and always will.
See you in the funny pages!
Russ (russbear)
Russ the bear
I'm very glad that you found the forum and posted a hello.
It's superbowl time! ...and boy are things easy to overlook at Superbowl time.
Serious welcome, though. I look forward to getting you into the game.

My contribution to the game.
Welcome, Russ! Looking forward to seeing more from Raphael. I'm sure you'll have plenty of takers for side posts. We love 'em.

Hi
And before your signature annoys me too much. - It is! How else would you pronounce it?

If you wanted to make a comment about onomatopeia not sounding like its meaning ...
fonetic
Why isn't the word 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds?
Hey Guys,
We've run into another dry spell. Driven very much by me, my apologies.
KL is on vacation this week and Dave is in the middle of a brutal 10 day consecutive work extravaganza. So, with that in mind, I'd like for this next week to be spent finishing any JPs you have and brainstorming on new ideas. If you have plans for JPs that include Admelior/Nemesis. Go ahead and write them up and give him a tag, he'll get to them when he can. Same with KL.
Come Monday, I want to have the new moves initiated. Which will be a series of smaller plots that will cover the passing of time between April-May-June. So, you can also use that time line to help plan your JPs and character development - what will be the background of their lives over these three months.
I'll likely post another assignment, that will allow me to lace your character development plans in with the upcoming threads. That way we can add brief glimpses here and there to help give them validity. The upcoming posts will be investigations from beginning to end, so while we won't be playing every day out...the idea is for them to all span approximately 3 months game time.
Heyyyyyy! When did you stop becoming a GM and start becoming a creative writing professor and all task-y?
(glares dubiously at china)
(glares dubiously at china)
Since you guys out stage me every step of the way, when it comes to story.
Boooooooooooooooooo!
(throws peanuts)
Suck it up, sunshine!
Why I oughta....!
Yay! I love homework! *claps*
Well, I love homework even more! *gives the teacher an apple*
Buncha buttkissers.
Seriously...
(sulks cause he didn't get to erase the blackboard enough as a kid)
Actually...if homework is joint posts, sign me up.
With splosions please.
I've created a sub book to Season One, called 'Passing of Time (April - June 2009)'.
Please put your new fiction pieces that take place in the time after Dilemma and Payback into this book, if it feels like the right time frame.
Thanks so much!
I've been working much of today on catching up with fiction and such. Loving it!
So, new moves will be here soon!
