Can everyone post here all of their NPCs. (Alive or Dead -- Poor Richard & Dave)
I don't care how minor, if you mentioned them in a post, at some level, I want to have them. IF you have a descriptor for them, please include that. This is for Jason and I, for a GM resource that we share. ...and it's also for me to help pick some NPCs to use for the party.
The sooner you can get these to me the better. They do NOT have to be complete at all...just whatever info you do have firm in your head.
Name:
Sex:
Age:
Satus: (Married, Single, Dead, Alive)
Descriptor: (occupation, appearance, personality, anything of that nature)
Name: Ari Rudd (from "Double or Nothing")
Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 50
Status: Alive & married (the wife is a non-entity, a useful social appendage, but not much else).
Description: A stocky, well-fed (not fat, but solid) man with a ruddy complexion. Speaks with a South African accent, not surprisingly (he's from South Africa. (He's based on the main bad guy in Lethal Weapon 2, if you want a bodycast.) Wealthy and well-connected. He is heavily involved in the drug trade in Hudson City. He's not a nice man. He hates Raven--she cut off his hand, even if only temporarily.
Name: Charisma (last name unknown) (also from "Double or Nothing")
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Status: Alive. A lovely young woman with a heart-shaped face and dark skin. She's a call girl, working out of a high-end brothel. An acquaintance (and possibly close, personal...friend) of Raven's (at least for a few days) when Raven was trying to infiltrate Rudd's inner circle via the brothel.
Name: Tiny (real name unknown) (from "Cartel Cocktail Part 2")
Sex: Male
Age: Late 20s
Status: Alive
Description: A small black man--barely five feet tall, slender, delicate and entirely unthreatening in appearance. His voice is soft and high (think Michael Jackson). He dresses in expensive, high-quality suits; always sharp but never flashy. He is in charge of a small part of the Needle, and despite his unthreatening appearance he must have some way of maintaining his authority. He has an understanding with Raven: in return for helping her find the source of the Cartel Cocktail, she agreed to stay out of his territory. (Raven doesn't expect him to last long--most gang leaders don't--but it remains to be seen if she's right.)
Name: James (Jim) Sutherland
Sex: Male
Age: Early 60s
Status: Alive, Divorced
Description: Bodycast is George Carlin. Jim Sutherland is a retired reporter for the main Hudson City newspaper, and father of Assistant District Attorney Kate Sutherland (aka Raven). He has a sardonic sense of humor and though retired still knows lots of colorful people and still knows where a lot of metaphorical bodies are buried. He is not fondly remembered at City Hall or among the upper echelons of the Hudson City Police Department due to his many (many, many) stories over the years uncovering corruption in high places.
Name: Ari Rudd (from "Double or Nothing")
Sex: Male
This is perfect...more than perfect.
1 XP for everyone who does this for me.
Thank you!
Gee, thanks. Some of us don't have any NPCs.
Living or dead, said she who controls our fates, and you got a lot of dead bodies lying around. You could also throw in your sleazy boss from the motel.
Age: A toddler, and probably always will be unless it starts seeming weird continuity-wise

Description: Even with all that he has done for the world, SB thinks of Hannah as his legacy. Hannah is a very caring, giving child who does everything in her power to keep her family happy.

Edison is using the body double option, and will arrive at the party with Umberto; Umberto will gravitate towards the bar and any single women, in that order.
Name: Detective Marisol Cruz
Sex: F
Age: late 30s
Status: alive, engaged
Descriptor: A short, fit-looking woman of Brazilian descent, with close-cropped dark hair. She's Edison's contact in the Homicide Department; she's used him on several cases and respects his abilities, although she doesn't much like him. But then, she's too focused on her job to take much of a personal interest in anyone. She could be at the party.
Name: George Melville
Sex: M
Age: 28
Status: alive, single
Descriptor: A plain-looking guy, he would be unremarkable if not for his attempt to look eccentric by wearing mismatched thrift store clothes. A bit of a disappointment to his nouveau riche parents, he's opened an art gallery instead of going to work in the family's shipping business. Unlikely to be at the party, but his parents could be there.

Imagination is the seed of intelligence. Nourish it and watch it grow.
Still more NPCs (some from works in progress, not yet posted)
Name: Judge Vincent "Vinny" Gambino
Sex: Male
Age: mid-60s
Status: Alive, married to Mona Lisa Vito Gambino
Description: Judge Gambino is a popular judge in the Hudson City criminal courts system. He runs a relaxed courtroom* though lawyers or defendants who mistake this for softness on crime or a less than encyclopedic knowledge of and insistence on relevant rules are sadly mistaken. He is one of Kate Sutherland's mentors, so she doesn't actually get to appear before him in most cases (he'd recuse himself). Outside the courtroom, he's funny, opinionated and colorful.
*He's experienced working under a hard-ass judge firsthand (as seen in "My Cousin Vinny") and prefers to run his courtroom otherwise. Bodycast: Joe Peschi (wife's bodycast: Marisa Tomei).
Name: Henry Hudson
Sex: Male
Age: 72
Status: Alive. Divorced, divorced, and widowed, respectively.
Description: Henry is the owner and operator of Henry's Hamburgers, a hole-in-the-wall burger joint across the street from the justice center in Hudson City (and popular with judges, lawyers, defendants, clerks....). Henry serves a limited menu (if you don't like it, go elsewhere), but what he serves is arguably the best burger anywhere, along with a limited selection of drinks, and a slice of (fruit) pie if you want dessert.
Henry never forgets a name or a face, though he isn't usually very talkative. But if you can get him to talk, he can be a font of useful (if strange information). He's also a retired Call of Cthulhu-type Investigator, so if he's got a lot of quirks, well, consider that he's still alive and apparently sane....
Bodycast: Barnard Hughes as Grampa in "The Lost Boys."

Description: Pops McGinty is a retired officer and the owner of "Pops", a small neighborhood bar in Irishtown. He owns the currently-empty retails space immediately behind the bar and uses the connecting rooms as storage for his--or, rather, Nemesis'--arsenal. He is an older man of sixty-plus years, with a gruff personality and fondness for scotch (and whiskey, and vodka...) and cigars (and cigarettes, and pipes...). Pops was married for many years but his wife passed away nearly a decade ago, and they never had children of their own. Pops has pretty much adopted Luke as the son he never had, and is as supportive and protective--and critical--as any real father could be.
Bodycast: Lawrence Tierney
Name: Cleveland Roosevelt “Cleve” Garfield
Sex: Male
Age: 30
Status: Single…depressingly so
Description: Cleve is a medical examiner at the City Morgue, and while he isn’t necessarily the Chief he’s the guy who runs the place. He knows where everything is, who everyone is, and what’s supposed to go where. Outside of work he has little in the way of social hobbies, unless one counts EverQuest as a “social” hobby. He’s a frequent customer at the local take-out joints and movie rental places, and has a thing for Angelina Jolie that borders on the absurd.
Bodycast: Zach Galifinakis

Name: Walter
Sex: Male
Age: 74
Status: Single (but taken), twice divorced.

Age: 80
Status: Married…not that anyone has ever met his wife

He retired years and years ago and owns several homes and properties from which he draws ample rental and lease fees.
Bodycast: Ernest Borgnine
Name: Brian
Sex: Male
Age: 55
Status: Married, sometimes happily
Description: Essentially a good guy, he spends half his time in the bar because his wife, Ruth Ann, has reverse PMS (every 28 days she’s nice, lasts about a weekend). Still one tough sonuva bitch for an old guy.
Bodycast: Gregory Peck

Status: Involved, whatever that means
Description: Chad worked undercover so much it got so that he started to believe his own lies. He’s so full of shit it’s hard to take him seriously, but he’s a good fishing buddy, likes to work on cars, and will buy drinks at the most random times.
Bodycast: Jack Warden
Name: Dick
Sex: Male
Age: 65
Status: Single
Description: Another beat cop, Dick made Sergeant and stayed there, the better to mentor the up-and-comers. He’s most familiar with the north areas, but has served all over Hudson City. He’s arguably the most knowledgeable about the city itself.
Bodycast: Nick Nolte
Name: Jeff
Sex: Male
Age: 66
Status: Divorced, usually
Description: Jeff is by far the most worn member of the Thin Grey Line, but after all his years in criminalistics—including a stint with Internal Affairs—he’s probably earned it. He still keeps in touch with many of the players and movers on the force who otherwise wouldn’t have anything to do with Pops crew. Some say it’s because he has files on everyone, but he never admits to anything. He’s a good cook, though.
Bodycast: Brian Cox
Name: Bobby W
Sex: Male
Age: 60
Status: Divorced, one son on the force
Description: Bobby is a fit individual who still has a way with the ladies. Twenty-something years on the force, making lieutenant and teaching several classes in the Academy before retiring. Has one son on the force who’s already made detective (organized crime). Good friends with Bill.

Now they are casually dating with no current plans to get more serious. Light hearted and friendly, Celeste is a gentle woman of significant patience. Although not enamored of the spot light, she has dealt with fame and the press often enough to be comfortable with it.
Emily Eisele
Female
Age: 11
Status: Single and Alive
Descriptor: Emily is a shy, incredibly brilliant young girl. She is not especially cute, with mousy brown hair and thick glasses, usually dressed in comfortable, worn clothing. After meeting her at a science fair, JACE realized her incredible intelligence rivaled his own and chose to take her under his wing and tutor her.
Mary Eisele Female Age: 32 Status: Married and Alive Descriptor: A small, mousy woman, Mary is Emily's mother. Shy by nature, she is beaten down from a hard life and an abusive husband. Now afraid of her own shadow, she only wants what is best for Emily and can't even envision a life for herself. She sees JACE as Emily's best hope.
Raymond Eisele Male Age: 35 Status: Married and Alive Descriptor: A large, obese drunkard, Raymond is Emily's father. He is verbally abusive with occasional violant outbursts. Already a heavy drinker, the extra money JACE is providing for Emily's education allows him to drink more and faster than ever. This falls in with JACE's plans. Brenda Jace
Female
Age: 53
Status: Married and Alive
Descriptor: JACE's mother, Brenda is a short, athletic woman. Although not as intelligent as JACE, she is quite brilliant herself. She was the first to recognize JACE's genius and was the one to encourage him to explore the sciences. Quiet, she possesses a core of steel. Although her husband does most of the talking and makes most of the decisions, he knows to give in when she puts her foot down. Also proud of her son, she is more concerned about his disregard for others and hopes to help him see the value in other people.

Alright, as most all of you know, I will be handwaving approximately three months game time.
As always, I'm offering 1xp per side piece that you write. ...and I'm hoping that everyone will be able to squeeze one of those out to help give us a sense of the passing of time for your character.
In addition to that, I'm giving a point for a summary (Brief or Long) of what your character has done during that time. Please post these in the 'Getting to Know the Cast Thread'.
January 1st - April 1st
What has your Character been doing on the team? How are they proactively contributing, if at all?
What has your Character been doing outside of the team?
How is your character fairing in boot camp? Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?
Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?
Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone? If so, who?
Has your character developed a special relationship with another character? Do anything over and above for them? (example would be: Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)
What is your character's general mood? Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc. If it varies from team member to team member be specific.
Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?
Just to be clear, this is also open to my non team heroes. The questions would be different, somewhat. ...but if you let me know what you've been up to, it's worth an XP.
My little experiment seems to be going well, so I'm throwing the challenge open to everyone. Here's the deal: I will create an illustration featuring your character. You write a story inspired by the image.
See some of the completed images here, and the first story here.
I'd really like to get all the NYE Party pieces tagged with the NPCs that were in each piece.
If anyone would like to do that for me, I'll give you an XP for it.
1 point for tagging ALL of them.
Let me know if you're interested. I had a very rough time tonight researching everything for Emily Eisele. If I had properly tagged her in each of the pieces she was in, it would have been a lot easier for me to do my research.
With the one year anniversary of the game so close at hand, I'm looking back over the scenarios, and taking inventory of things. It feels on one hand like we did so much, but on the other we don't have a lot of official game moves to show for it.
The passing of time that was done by the characters with fiction pieces, joint pieces and mini scenarios, was stellar. I've never seen anything like it in the games I've been in, in the past. Amazing. The number of pages could fill books - so much was written.
My ability to run the sprawling cast through game scenarios, though... that has left me wanting. I really thought I could run 4 or 5 game moves a year, but that hasn't happened. Which is fine, I wish I could have done more, and I'll try to do more next year... but I'm not kicking myself too hard over it.
So, what I kind of wanted to do...is focus on what this cast seems to be so good at for a little while. And help it with some upper level management. *grin*
I have several ideas, and I'm sure you guys have several ideas, of scenarios that you would like to see. But instead of making them all game moves, I'd like to see them done, miniseries style in JPs. Much like the Soldier Boy Dilemma, House of Cards, Loose Ends, ExWives Series, etc.
So, if you guys could please pitch me some of your ideas. I know that several of you are already working on them, but if I know about them, I can help make sure the momentum is kept up. And maybe help with ideas and such that will make them a little richer by dropping in things that might lead to future events.
I'm hoping to get everyone involved in one or two miniseries types of things, that can be going on while we're running the next set of official game moves. If you're too busy and need to opt out that's fine. These are volunteer and available for XP.
I'll pitch some of the ones I want to run in another thread. But if you guys could throw out some ideas, as well, I'd appreciate it.
I was hoping that someone would help me with a little project for Hero Designer. I have two character sheets, Phase and Orion, that I really need entered into HD.
Since nobody commented to this massive post, previously. :) I wanted to bring it up again.
I'd like for each player in the game, team member, staff members, hudson city heroes and hudson city zeroes, to bring at least one idea to the table of what they'd like to explore with their character. It can be something obvious that focuses on a disad, or it can be fun or in left field, doesn't matter - just something to get my brain hopping. OR, if you really don't have anything pressing, feel free to say as much, and I'll cast you in supporting roles.
I'm hoping to cultivate about four ideas into miniseries. I think I have a firm idea on two to three story lines, but I'd like a couple of more. And this will really help me. The ones I can't hit on immediately, will still be valuable to me as a GM to see what you'd like to do with your character.

I dont have anything pressing for XR at all. Not in the sense youre talking about anyway. I was going to explore how he got a couple of his magical doo dads, and have the Alacarvra show up now and then in a couple sholo shorts.. so... cast away, I'll pitch in wherever I can.
Why isn't the word 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds?
This is a healthy possibility for one of the threads. ...and it would make sense for Mason to land in that cast. Soldier Boy, Raven and Heatwave also ran into this drug, and Shift.

Or .... Finally resolving the relationship issues ;)
whichever will be easier to solve (lol)
We can brainstorm on this a bit. Get he and Phi back on solid friend turf, if that can be accomplished. Definitely side piece fodder.
For Danny, it's to balance out all the depressing, evil and messed-up people on the team with just generally being a nice guy.
(did I mention he was a junior scout and also delivered hot meals to old people as a teen?)
Yes, sweet Danny.
I'm pretty sure that Danny will be in the cast with Edison Palmer, Heatwave and Xavier Relaford. Although, these mini threads will have opportunities for crossovers, because the timelines will be staggared. So, just because I assign you to a cast doesn't mean that the boy scout can't hop into other pieces as well. (Vampire)
Other thread ideas, halfway fleshed out, that I'd like to hit on are:
...and I have a feeling, his involvement might creep into the family threads that I'll be moving. Read Duty and Costs if you haven't. But with his relation to the DiSantiagos, it will likely get him sucked in at some point. And that one will include Ophilia, Orion, likely Sebastian and Nemesis as well. (Family)
Another thread is the Dean Masterson thread. This will have Phi and Sebastian in it. And I'm hoping for Edison Palmer to help a wee bit, maybe Stone or Nemesis. The detective types. It might also need a piece with Mason and Sebastian. (Dean Masterson)
...and I have another story line brewing for to sick some of the others on. It's lightly flirts with the Cabal and might be dark and gritty.
No big surprise, I have several places I'd like to explore with Stone.
1. The CMC - what becomes of it, how it helps to form alliances on he team, bridge gaps between unlikely fellows, and so on. I think I can kind of run this subplot off to the side, though, through JPs. I would, however, like to see the current members work their patches into their writing.
2. The Tara Winston situation, and by extension his chick magnet disad. Carlotta Cruise seems more than a little interested in Stone, too. There's lots of pretty, ambitious, competitive, even catty young women in the social circle who might decide that Tara shouldn't have exclusive rights. This could be a bubbling cauldron that boils over and makes things interesting for everyone to some degree.
3. The basic development (redemption?) of Stone from isolated individual to a more complete person. That might include the "I'm not a hero" running theme. He's almost done with the hover bike conversion of his Harley. Once it's done, doe he listen to the voices in his head telling him to get out, hit the road, that friendships and these feelings he's having for Luke, Phi, Danny, and opthers aren't for him? If he decides to just hit the road and put it behind him, does anybody come after him? Maybe the CMC decides to bring him to bear - he would be their responsibility to a degree, after all, brotherhood being what it is.
4. Expanding Stone's background. The Soldier Boy Project connection. This was started by Richard, actually, in the Stone/SB joint posts, and I expanded on it in the large background piece. I have more background pieces planned including more with the old man, but what happened to the Colonel? Why has the government been interested enough in Stone to have kept an eye on him his whole life? Where did he come from? Who were his parents?
5. Stone stood up for Heatwave to SB and SB put it right back on Stone to watch out for her. HW and Stone made a connection in their JP based on tragic pasts and shared experiences. I could see Stone helping her to find her confidence and regain some stability, while she helps him to see that he doesn't have to have his own shields up all the time, or something like that.
6. JPs. I love JPs. Stone's available for anybody who has an idea and wants him involved. I had an idea for a series of JPs similar to Iron Horses, but instead of teaching teammates how to ride it would be Stone and another Conk out on patrol. SB said he might set up a schedule for patrols, so this seemed to fit.
If I could get all this in, that would be awesome. If none of it happens, that's fine too. I'm just geeked up to be on the show and in the end I'm happy to run with whatever my GM decides to put out there. *thumbs up*
China, I sent you my notes and ideas about the vampire storyline. You are more than welcome to take it and run with it. Some other things that come to mind for Edison:
1) In general, I need to be less precious about the character, and start letting bad things happen to him. :puzzled: He ought to be on a toboggan ride to darkness by now.
2) Do more to develop his personal life. Maybe he needs a girlfriend.
2) Follow-up on the JP with Heatwave and see what develops between those two.
3) Want to explore the magical side of Hudson City, and further development with Trinity and The Broker. Maybe do something with Raven too.
4) Be of use in some other developing storylines that Ed has connections with.

That's a great idea! I so want to kill him. And maybe your best friend from the dream piece.

Descriptor: Weaselly spoiled rich boy. Compared to the rest of his family he's a bit crass and unsophisticated, but you can still spot the silver spoon from a mile away. Handsome, but often has dark circles under his eyes from all the partying. Edison is using the body double option, and will arrive at the party with Umberto; Umberto will gravitate towards the bar and any single women, in that order.
Sex: M

Name: Stacey Nichols
Satus: Single

Descriptor: Stacey is a Senior at Sandelwood High, and is editor of the school yearbook and paper. Sex: Male
Age: 75
Status: Widowed, retired
Description: Former beat cop with flat feet, he’s one of the original “been there done that” guys on the force. Very little phases him these days, especially since he’s been battling cancer off and on for the past couple of years. Avid fisherman. Very good friends with Walter.
Sex: Male
Age: 74
Status: Single (but taken), twice divorced.
Description: Walter is the cranky bastard of Pop’s Bar, putting even Pops himself to shame on occasion. He’s a handy guy to have around, literally and figuratively, but he will cut you absolutely no slack on anything. Good friends with Al.

Description: Quit the force many years back to take up his brother’s Mercedes dealership, but never left Pops Bar.
Sex: Male
Age: 80
Status: Married…not that anyone has ever met his wife
Description: Old Don is the guy who knows a little about a lot and never fails to share that info. He’s a die-hard Republican, borderline racist (but not mean-spirited), and one cheap sonuva bitch. He retired years and years ago and owns several homes and properties from which he draws ample rental and lease fees.
Sex: Male
Age: 55
Status: Married, sometimes happily
Description: Essentially a good guy, he spends half his time in the bar because his wife, Ruth Ann, has reverse PMS (every 28 days she’s nice, lasts about a weekend). Loves NASCAR, his dog Baxter, and vodka…not necessarily in that order. The most recent retiree of the bunch, served for several years in the Special Operations Bureau before taking a turn at the evidence & weapons desk prior to his retirement.
Sex: Male
Age: 72
Status: Married
Description: A lover of all things gambling, but especially the horses, Ken was a former beat cop who actually got into horse patrol throughout the parks in the early years. Still one tough sonuva bitch for an old guy.
Sex: Male
Age: Who knows?
Status: Involved, whatever that means
Description: Chad worked undercover so much it got so that he started to believe his own lies. He’s so full of shit it’s hard to take him seriously, but he’s a good fishing buddy, likes to work on cars, and will buy drinks at the most random times.
Sex: Male
Age: 65
Status: Single
Description: Another beat cop, Dick made Sergeant and stayed there, the better to mentor the up-and-comers. He’s most familiar with the north areas, but has served all over Hudson City. He’s arguably the most knowledgeable about the city itself.
Sex: Male
Sex: Male
Age: 60
Status: Divorced, one son on the force

Dr. Celeste Sanders

Descriptor: Celeste is one of the world's leading biochemists. She is also a remarkably beautiful woman with long red hair. Wealthy and brilliant, she and Jonathon met at a medical conferance.
Mary Eisele Female Age: 32 Status: Married and Alive Descriptor: A small, mousy woman, Mary is Emily's mother. Shy by nature, she is beaten down from a hard life and an abusive husband. The doctor expects the man to quickly drink himself to death, thus removing himself from Emily's life and allowing her to benefit from the insurance policy JACE retained on Raymond.
Jonathon Edward Jace Jr.
Male
Age: 55
Status: Married and Alive
Descriptor: JACE's father, Jonathon Jr. is a tall, slender man whose black hair is just starting to go grey at the temples. Brenda Jace
Female
This one is my favorite! *grin*
...and Cleve has to be at the party!

Jarrod Frazier....and no, not at the party.

Anything else worth mentioning? Relationships? Friends?
Post moved to the correct thread (which, truth be known, I thought this was at the time, but it was late and I was tired...)
Giggle. :) Someone didn't read the instructions.
Just to be clear, this is also open to my non team heroes. The questions would be different, somewhat. ...but if you let me know what you've been up to, it's worth an XP.
NOW you tell me. Us. Us?
Whatever.
NOW you deign to give us something to do. I see how it is. I see where we stand. Oh yes, the cat is out of the bag now!
:
Oh. Bah to you!
They're always open to you guys...just need some tinkering.
My little experiment seems to be going well, so I'm throwing the challenge open to everyone. Here's the deal: I will create an illustration featuring your character. You write a story inspired by the image.
See some of the completed images here, and the first story here.
Reply here or PM me if you want to give it a try.
Just to say i really love some of those images. Atmosheric, and all the little details to act as inspiration. Great work.
Any takers?
HD 3? If so, I'll do it.

Imagination is the seed of intelligence. Nourish it and watch it grow.
yup yup!
Thank you so much.
I'll send them to you.
Current Cast:
Team Members
Nemesis
Heatwave
Stone
Danny McClain
JACE
Phase
Orion
Avatar
Staff
Ophilia DiSantiago
Sebastian DiSantiago
Soldier Boy
Hudson City Roles
Raven
Mason Willoughby
Xavier Releaford
I think that's it. But if I forgot you, please holler and don't be wounded. I'm doing this from the top of my head. IF anyone needs to reconsider their commitment or step back, this would be a great time to let me know.

For Mason, its Two words ...
Cartel Cocktail.
Or .... Finally resolving the relationship issues ;)
whichever will be easier to solve (lol)
For Danny, it's to balance out all the depressing, evil and messed-up people on the team with just generally being a nice guy.
(did I mention he was a junior scout and also delivered hot meals to old people as a teen?)
Cartel Cocktail.
5) More JPs! JPs are good.
6) Have some lunch.
For Heatwave I'd like to work on:
For story ideas.

Imagination is the seed of intelligence. Nourish it and watch it grow.
For Soldier Boy:
1) Working on a JP with Heatwave that takes place after Dilemma.
2) Considering a series of fiction pieces having to do with... well, you'll see.
3) Up for JPs
4) I'd like to explore SB's role as a mentor.
I guess for Sebastián it all depends what happens after Payback. I think I'll be better able to answer then.
