This is for threads that will help familiarize us with your characters.

Or for you to volunteer information that we would know about your characters. Try to keep it to things that we would know, OR clearly let us know that we wouldn't know it, if that's the case.

PC Profiles!

Since we don't have a wiki yet (hint, hint--I'm so subtle. And patient!), can we get the PC backgrounds posted somewhere?

Full character sheets would be nice--I like to see what everyone has done--but just the background stuff would be very useful. Including any disads, preferably. So I know whether someone has a public ID or a reputation. At this point (my most recent addition to Ball Room 3), I'm going on guesswork.

Okay.

This keeps getting pushed down my priority list and I didn't want to link it until I had it how I wanted it.

http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/conquistadors-guidebook

However, this link should get you to most of the old wiki information.  I'll keep improving on it as time allows.

There still isn't a good wiki solution that's integrated with Drupal. I've been keeping my eyes open for one and I've put it on my list of things to do myself but I'm still learning how to do modules so it may be down the road.

Pregame Connections

'''Connections'''

Are there any other existing IN GAME connections between characters that I need to know about? Cuz I wanna know. During the Prequel you will be meeting at least two people, so no worries if you don't currently have a connection. I'll work with each of you on your back story if I haven't already.

So far, here's what I know.

Ardent - No connections

Avatar will know - Raphael (...but not that he's Orion).

Epoch will know Family Members, JACE & Saint

Heatwave - No connections

JACE will know - Marionette, Epoch & Saint

Marionette will know - JACE & Saint (Ophilia), Soldier Boy and Nemesis (Who will know she's Ophilia once they move into the Cathedral) and the Family Members

Mister Amazing - No connections

Nemesis will know - Ophilia and will meet Soldier Boy just a few days before the rest of the team.

Orion will know - the Family Members, Avatar and Phase?

Phase - She's familiar with the DiSantiagos in general because of the high society circles that she runs with. But she doesn't know any of them have powers.

Raven - No connections, but she could easily have bumped into Nemesis, Saint, Heatwave or Mister Amazing, maybe even JACE. Anyone that did active heroing in Hudson City.

Saint will know - Epoch/Sebat, JACE and Ophilia/Marionette (he knows her in both identities)

Soldier Boy will know - Ophilia and he'll meet JACE, Nemesis & Epoch a few days before he meets the rest of the team.

Veritas will know - Family Members

All the DiSantiagos will know each other, how well, is totally up to the players.

Um Um... um... um... Feel

um...

Feel free to put in your background information. I'm not sure I'll be posting character sheets yet.

Although, I may as well come clean. Everyone almost is built with a different amount of points. And I don't feel bad about it.  ...exactly.

I have good reasons for it. But just so you know. I'm not picking favorites or anything...just giving some leeway for some powers that need to be fit in and such.

Plus...it just kinda feels cooler having different power sets and point values. At least from my perspective.

...so there it is, I've come clean. So I guess if you guys really wanna post your character sheets you can.

Kate and Luke
Quote:Sinanju 25 Aug 08 11:30:01
Having read the Nemesis character background, it occurs to me that Pop's bar is just the sort of bar Kate Sutherland would like. She'd likely to associate with cops--but would much prefer a bar where the good cops hang out (and the bad cops would like that better too).

So a) what's Pop's bar look like? and b) Kate might well know Nemesis in his civilian identity if they both drink there. What do you think?

To answer the second question first, I think Kate would almost definitely know Luke if she showed up more than a couple of times. He does indeed sometimes sit and drink when he's not working, and he's a personable bartender besides. During the day, if he's there and not working he usually occupies a spot at the end of the bar or maybe one of the booths, and either has a book, a laptop, or both.

Now, as to Pop's...I may as well set down a description somewhere.

The bar is on the northeastern corner of Perrin & Bell in Irishtown. It's part of an older set of buildings, mostly brick and wood, and the four windows that face the street (2 north, 2 east), are covered from the inside, but display neon signs of various designs.

Picture a basically square room, maybe 50'x50' total. The entrance is from the northeast corner and is essentially a big solid oak door with a diamond window in the middle.

Along the north wall is a series of three high-top tables with three stools apiece. Down the middle, spaced out just so, are four regular tables that seat four (chairs, not stools). Along the north wall are three booths, each seating four...six, if you're all really friendly.

The bar itself extends for 3/4's of the west wall with a server well at one end (there are no servers), and the back (south) end open. Four taps--Bud, Bud Light, Urban Ale (a local microbrew) and Hefewiezen on tap. The bar seats 12 comfortably, but can hold more when they squeeze in. The stools are all wood frames with black leather; the chairs have dark red leather.

Four televisions are in the bar--two big screens at either end, a wall-mounted smaller tv in the middle of the east wall, and another behind the bar just above the register (which is an antique brass affair).

Three ceiling fans and lights, dim lighting from underneath and behind the bar, and a variety of neon signs give the place a comfy look no matter what time of day.

It's a neighborhood place, not clean like "Cheers", but well-lived in. Pops is the latest in a string of bar owners dating back 40 years or more and he's had it for the last 5-6 years.

The bathrooms are in the back, as are the office and storeroom and emergency exit, which leads to an alley (where liquor deliveries are made). There's a payphone back there, too, as well as a vending machine.

The place has just enough room for two dart boards in the back and a pair of bar-top video games at either end. Sirius provides the music and is usually on oldies or classic rock. The TVs have various programming on them but usually sports and sometimes news.

Clientele ranges from guys who have been there since it opened to college kids just looking to hang out. Day crowd is by definition usually much older than the evenings. Occupations can be anything--law enforcement (those who don't mind being associated with Pops himself), construction, accountants, government employees, retirees, professionals and what-have-you. Despite its homey appearance the place is well-behaved; there's hardly any trouble there whatsoever.

Pops is usually around during the day and often stays through Happy Hour (4-7pm every day). Luke picks up a few day shifts here and there and fills in at night if one of the other two bartenders can't make it. Dice are almost always being rolled, and the place allows smoking. Drink prices are reasonable to cheap, and all the basics are covered.

Does that help?

Heya, folks. Y'all know we

Heya, folks.

Y'all know we have a character section in TCQ, right? A place where you can put in your character's background info, personality traits and the like, plus whatever else you want. A few of us have done it, but it'd make it much easier if everyone did so that we could envision your character the way you envision your character.

There's a lot of us on this team and I thought it'd be helpful if we could everyone up to date before game start, just so we're all the same page.

(Actually, since China is kinda planning on me being "leader" of this dysfunctional bunch I'm a little panicked that I'll get confused easily. This, hopefully, will help minimize that confusion. I just sayin'...)

If not, that's cool, too. It's helpful, not mandatory. I thought I'd post a reminder, is all, in case someone forgot or didn't know.

Anyway, here's the link to the page: http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/cast

Click on your name and edit. If anyone needs help, just ask!

Thanks, folks!

Help Portraying Characters

I'd like for everyone to take a few minutes to answer this post. This is to help me frame your characters in the correct light when I introduce the characters for the first time, in the larger game move. Some of you have done a lot of side pieces, so I have a good feel for some of you, but still...

This will help me with NPC reactions and such. I can't control how the other Player's react to you, but unless you give me reason not to, my NPCs are here to perceive your hero's in the light that you'd like for them to be seen. For the most part, although some of the DiSantiago's are a pesky, opinionated, and snobbish lot.

1. Ideally, how would others see you when they first meet you. Like the First Impression (often times that might happen before words are even spoken)?

2. When someone reads your character what are three things that you would like to see portrayed. (here are some examples that come to mind. Nemesis and his flair for entrances. Soldier Boy and his saucy language. Phase and her style and beauty. Ardent and his shifting eyes.)

3. Quirks. Even if you didn't take them as disads, what are a few of your character's quirks.

4a. Character's Appearance. Feel free to paste this from your background. Please include height. Weight isn't necessary, but an indicator such as slender, bulky, heavy set, toned, impressive physique. Stuff like that helps me more than a number.

4b. Tangible stats. Comliness, Charisma, Strengh (if applicable). Anything else that you feel the other players should have an idea of just by looking.

5. If applicable any powers, skills or disads that you would like our help with making them come to life (give as many details as you're comfortable sharing). Things that hop to mind are... Avatar and his psychic abilities. Ophilia and her premonitions. OR. If you have a power or disadvantage that would affect another character or NPC that we should know about. Ardent has one I believe regarding Psychic's feelings towards him. Or if anyone has things like jerk magnet, a reputation in either direction (soldier boy & mister amazing). Skills that are based on social (Phase) or observation (Nemesis) that we should take into consideration.

As the GM, I don't do die rolls for PC to PC interaction unless things turn adversarial or if they're specifically requested by both parties. ...but I do encourage all the Players to take note of each others abilities and do what you can to make them feel real.

Ophilia DiSantiago

Ophilia DiSantiago

1. First Impression:
"Isn't that...the DiSantiago girl?" or. "I've seen her somewhere before." (assuming they've lived in Hudson City for a while)

Her first appearance if not impression is friendly and soft, an easy smile. Expensive clothing, but not always the latest styles. Pretty but approachable.

2. Reader Impression:
Tight and put together on the outside, a sense of control of her surroundings. On the inside however, she's fragile and anything but in control. Her exterior is a force of sheer will.

DiSantiago Darling. The face of the DiSantiago's in almost all of their local charitable endeavors. Always knows the right thing to say and the right place to be. One of the lights among the mysterious dark shadows of the DiSantiago Family.

3. Quirks:

  • Can't Resist a Dare
  • Not Easily Scared
  • Doesn't Date
  • Stress Smoker
  • Heart Condition

4a. Physical Appearance:
5'2" tall and slender. She's an avid tennis player and works out almost daily, so stays toned. She has long curly black hair that falls to the middle of her back. Her eyes are dark brown and her complexion is flawless. She's dressed for business most of the time, and usually wears a business suit, either jacket and slacks or jacket and skirt.

4b. Noticeable Stats:
Com and Appearance are 18. She usually stands out in a crowd. ...but with the team, she pales in comparison to most of her new cohorts. She is physically weak, a combination of her size and health condition. Her Strength is a 7.

5. Powers, Skills and Disads of Note:

Skills: Socially, she's a good speaker and is persuasive.

Rep: She's a DiSantiago, her name speaks of wealth and power, but she's seen as softer than most of the family.

Powers:
Hunches. Ophilia has premonitions but they aren't under her control. She might do things like answer a question before it's asked, no who's calling before she looks at the caller ID, get a flash of your dinner plans or trouble that you're going to get into (before it happens).

But...unless her life is in danger...she has no control over when she'll see a vague intuition into the future. In combat situations, they're very keen and help her avoid attacks,

Winning Ways. She often has hunches in social interactions which will help her know the correct thing to do and to say to get her 'way'. This gives her a substantial bonus with interaction skill rolls. (As a side note. This doesn't always work (Nemesis is immune. *grin*). And that's how I'm playing it with PCs. But if you wanna throw me a clue as to what would influence your character, please do. It would help sell it to the reader.)

Heatwave
1. Mild mannered, possibly even a bit timid. More so in her Secret ID than in her Hero ID but applies to both.
2. Heatwave is a bit old-fashioned in her views. She doesn't swear and doesn't like it when others do so in her presence, expects gentlemen to hold the door for ladies, and blushes easily at any sexual innuendo. She is uncomfortable in temperatures under 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Often appears as if she hadn't slept the night before.
3. Can't miss her daily soaps and will tape them if she has to be away from the TV while they are on. Never takes off her mask when she is around others. Turns up the thermostat whenever she gets the chance.
4a. Heatwave is a slender 5'5” with long black hair and dark brown eyes that get darker when she is angry. In costume, she wears a dark red bodysuit with a half mask that leaves the lower portion of her face and her hair free. When her force field or flight is active there is a shimmering around her like what you would see over hot asphalt. Out of costume, she dresses conservatively in black with her hair tucked out of the way in a bun. Either way she doesn't wear any makeup.
4b. COM 18; PRE 20
5. Heatwave is uncomfortable in low temperatures and is immune to high ones so she tends to turn the thermostat up too high for most people's comfort. She is also very persuasive when she wants to be.

1. First Impression:

Quietly confident and approachable, someone you would want to get to know better. He's a habitual charmer, though not in a blatant kind of way; he just makes it his business to be likable and trustworthy. It'll be interesting to see how long that impression lasts.

2. Reader Impression:

A smooth manipulator and role player who can't turn it off; a hustler who can't stop hustling. An unstable personality who needs to control things, especially how other people perceive him, to feel safe.

4a. Physical Appearance:

Six feet tall and strapping, handsome in a square-jawed kind of way but not remarkably so. Blue eyes, dirty blond hair. Dresses for comfort but with a bit of style, like jeans with a nice shirt, adding to his all-American vibe.

4b. Noticeable Stats:

PRE of 18 with a bunch of social skills to go along with it. He's very good at drawing people out.

5. Powers, Skills and Disads of Note:

Avatar is highly perceptive and very good at reading people and making inferences about their personalities, motivations, and even history.

He also has Vague Psychic Powers which are meant to provide color and plot devices. He gets random flashes off objects, or of people's thoughts. If anyone wants to feed me little tidbits, PM me. It would be a 2-for-1 on character development; you get to introduce info about your character in a novel way, and I get to show Avatar's powers.

Ardent

1. First Impression:

Odd. Random, but likable if somewhat blunt. He'll either be distracted-seeming, off in his own world or focused solely on the person viewing him. Sometimes it's like he just fell off the turnip truck and is just now learning how to interact socially, and others he'll fit in like a champ. Sometimes both in the same encounter.

2. Reader Impression:

Yup, there's the eye color change, which sometimes can be linked to a definite speech pattern shift. He can go from clown to dead-serious in zero seconds, and sometimes isn't as tactful as he could be. Also when he moves, he makes absolutely no noise. There's the undeniable sense of "Other" about him, and a sense that he's not at all comfortable in his own skin. He's looking for something, and maybe even he doesn't know what it is. Also has a penchant for dropping into Latin or German at the drop of a hat.

3. Quirks:

Doesn't blink very often - stares unselfconciously
Doesn't believe in 'ghosts' or the Supernatural
Hates salt on anything
Talks to everyone like he's known them forever - no sense of status
Doesn't breathe, no rise and fall of the chest unless he's talking

4a. Physical Appearance:

Ardent's clothes are as random as he is - obvious Salvation Army kind of stuff, with very little attempt made to make anything match, or to dress for an occasion. He's skinny, almost gangly, and has jet black curly hair that to date has defeated all known attempts at being brushed. He's got that Abercrombie and Fitch look down cold, but seems to not know it or care. Has a pretty high COM and PRE, but it can translate as an indifference or "attitude".

4b. Noticeable Stats:

Nothing huge here, in Super Hero terms. He's definitely more nimble and quick than your average Joe, and somewhat resistant to harm.

5. Powers, Skills and Disads of Note:

Ardent pings as a Supernatural entity to those who can sense such things, even though he doesn't believe in such himself. He doesn't like being around things like power stations or anyplace with a ton of electroncis in it (you won't find him in the IT room or NOC, that's for sure) and he makes animals a bit nervous.

He rarely sleeps or eats, and when he does sleep he has such vivid, fractured dreams that he's kind of scared of it, and puts it off as long as possible.

Kate Sutherland

Kate hasn't actually appeared in the game yet. All of her interactions so far have been in her Raven persona. However....

1. First Impression: A charming and personable woman, interested in everything you have to say and easy to talk to.

2. Reader Impression: Kate is patient, methodical and driven. She seldom makes a move she hasn't thought through very carefully. She plays her cards close to her vest--she knows not everyone can be trusted, not even all those she works with in the District Attorney's office.

3. Quirks:

  • Kate tries to hide the fact that she needs to wear reading glasses.

4a. Physical Appearance: Kate is a little taller than average (5'8"), with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes.

4b. Noticeable Stats: Kate is attractive, but not a knockout (COM 16). She's sharp and self-confident, but most of all she's poised, cool under pressure, and hard to intimidate or impress (PRE 20).

4c. Powers, Skills, and Disads of Note: Kate's only power is her ability to transform into Raven. It isn't likely to come up....

Kate is an excellent conversationist, at ease in high society, and very familiar with both the law enforcement and criminal subcultures of Hudson City. She's a very aggressive (and successful) prosecutor, with a reputation as one of the rare truly honest prosecutors--or as a trouble-maker with no regard for "professional courtesy" or the "practicalities" of life in Hudson City, depending on which side of the fence you're on.

Mister Amazing

1. PC Impression: Mister Amazing never fails to impress, even at first sight. He’s striking and authoritative, heroic above all. To criminals, he can be extremely intimidating, usually recognized immediately and preceded by reputation.

2. Reader Impression: True-blue, real-live heroism but shadowed by a broken personal past. That and his awesome, magnetic presence.

3. Quirks: Mister Amazing is superstitious.

4a. Physical Appearance: Mister Amazing is just over six feet tall, with the slender, but capable build of a man who is very familiar with the inside of a gym. As a veteran hero, however, his youthful physique fading, he has to work harder to maintain it. In uniform, Mister Amazing is in yellow and white, like a beacon.

Out of costume, Jeff is almost the opposite. He is depressed and unkempt, with scruffy, dirty blonde hair and a constant five-o’clock shadow. He has no tattoos or visible scars. He is almost always hung over.

4b. Notable Stats: Mister Amazing sports high charisma and presence. He fills a room, attracts ladies, and makes friends easily. Jeff, while has the capability, rarely employs it. He seems to fade into the background, is gruff and depressed.

5. Powers, Skills, Disads of note: Mister Amazing is a veteran superhero with a positive, long-standing reputation in Hudson City as an upstanding vigilante. He never uses deadly force, always able to capture or subdue his opponents.

Nemesis

1. First Impression:

Luke – First impressions upon meeting Luke Merriweather is that he is, indeed, a large man, built like someone no stranger to the gym. He dresses casually but well, is considered handsome, and his general demeanor is amiable with a hint of shyness. There’s an air of resignation about him, but more of acceptance rather than a negative impact.

Nemesis – First impressions of Nemesis usually revolve around “Jesus, he’s big!” and/or “Wow…” Nemesis’ entire persona is based on being impressive, and in that he succeeds greatly. He stands tall, powerfully built and exuding confidence, and still manages to project a sense of security. He’s a masked man that one feels he can trust…assuming they’re on the right side of the law.

2. Reader Impression:

Nemesis loves to make an entrance, not simply because he likes to keep people off balance, but because he’s just always wanted to. Also, despite confidence in himself and his abilities he sometimes second-guesses himself. This usually manifests in the way he begins to speak, then stops. Lastly, Nemesis is and has always wanted to be one of the “good guys”. He wants the world to be a better place, and losing his badge almost killed that spirit. The Nemesis persona is an extension of that, and it’s what allows him to continue on fighting the good fight. His biggest fear is that he’ll be unable to do that, either through outside forces or worse, his own failings.

3. Quirks:

• Loves to make an entrance
• Emotionally reserved
• Swears a lot when angry
• Misses being a police officer
• Tends to research everything

4a. Physical Appearance:

Luke is a big man, broad of chest and shoulder. His hair is still generally worn short, though not as short as it was when he carried a badge, and lately he’s taken to giving it a bit of style. He generally dresses casually in either jeans or cotton slacks and remembers to shave at least every other day. He moves with an easy grace and is surprisingly quick for such a big man.

Nemesis almost always appears in a two-tone forest green and slate gray costume, with utility belt and bandolier in dark grey or black. He wears a full mask covering his entire head, leaving only his eyes open to the world. His staff is a titanium-questonite composite.

4b. Noticeable Stats:

Comeliness of 16, Presence of 23  His remaining stats, while not impressive in the “superhuman” sense, definitely put him in the upper end of normal human development.

5. Powers, Skills and Disads of Note:

Skills: Nemesis has trained himself to be an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, complimenting his strength and speed rather than relying on them. He’s also a highly skilled detective with myriad complimentary skills, and he spends much of his time researching a variety of subjects ranging from the city’s underworld to basic sciences. Lastly, he’s learning all the skills required to keep his cache of weapons and equipment up-to-date.

Powers: Nemesis possesses no powers in the traditional sense. Instead he utilizes weapons gleaned from the arsenals of law enforcement and criminal alike, as well as some of the finest equipment available on the open and black markets. Weapons used include an alloy staff (his favorite), a variety of handguns of lethal and nonlethal design, miniature grenades, throwing stars and even stun wands. Additional equipment include his flex-mesh ballistic cloth uniform (capable of withstanding most small arms fire), a semi-reliable force field belt, a host of portable tools and gadgets, nightvision goggles and more.

Disads: Nemesis has no known major weaknesses at this time. He has manifested a reluctance to use deadly force, and is prone to putting others' well-being before his own, especially children.

JACE

JACE

1. Handsome and stylish. A very confident and relaxed man.

2. His absolute brilliance. His mind works well beyond what nearly anyone else can comprehend. Going hand and hand with that is his overwhelming arrogance. In his mind, he is the only important person in the world. Cap that off with a charming personality that can cover his arrogance, at least if he cares to.

3. He is usually working on multiple projects at the same time. Almost never does he really focus on one thing. Avoids profanity as he considers it base and a sign of a weak mind.

4a. JACE is attractive and sophisticated. Rarely is he seen except in his power suit or in a regular business suit. He doesn't wear jewelry at all, but everything he wears and owns is of the highest quality. 5' 9", he is slender, but in decent shape. His blond hair is neatly cut. He has green eyes that often seem to be looking past what is in front of him.

4b. Comliness: 14, Presence: 13

5. Obviously he has lots of science skills (13 and growing with XP). He also has some persuasion and high society that let him be fairly charming when he want to be. He is a speed reader and lightning calculator, so he tends to fly through any written material given to him, often leaving the impression he didn't really read it.

Sebastian DiSantiago

Sebastián DiSantiago - Epoch

1. First Impression: Another DiSantiago. Handsome, well dressed. Comfortable in most social situations. Not a prototypical Doctor, as far as physical builds go.

2. Reader Impression : Actually pays attention during conversations, focusing on details remembering nuggets for future use. Is extremely confident/arrogant when dealing with normal things, such as his practice, his social life, his family. As far as the "hero" side of him, he's torn. The kid in him is excited about the thought of being a Superhero, the rational side of him is unused to using his powers infront of anyone, and is somewhat afraid of losing Social status if his secret is discovered.

3. Quirks
Revolving Door Relationships
Doesn't like being dirty, or unkepmt.
Treats his car like his baby.
Air of Entitlement

4a. Character's Appearance. 5'11" While his frame is average sized at best, he has an athletic build and he enjoys most forms of physcial sports. Dark hair, cut in a short, professional style. Dark brown eyes. He walks with a casual grace, which when combined with his Air of Entitlement, can make him seem very arrogant or cocky. Picture a jock who hit the books hard, as opposed to a bookworm who decided to work out. Dresses impeccably, always in the latest fasion.

4b. Tangible stats. Comliness: 18, Presence: 18, Dex: 20.

5. Skills: Loves to analyze people, see what makes them tick. Has a Medical Doctorate, and is a licensed practitioner of Psychiatry, with the required background skills.

Rep: A DiSantiago, first and foremost. Is a carouser, and loves a party. Professional Rep: New to the field, shows lots of potential.

Powers: Not alot will be publicly known about Sebastián's powers. He will let everyone who makes the team know he does have powers, but unless pressed specifically will be vauge about the details. He's got a knack of always knowing when he's in trouble, both in a fight and in normal everyday dealings. Behind the scenes, he's got a wickedly high Danger Sense roll. Like his sister he gets hunches, but his are more specific things about to happen and not so much thoughts and emotions. Generally his hunches tend to be far more accurate.

Second Impression: "This slob is Soldier Boy?" Most people still believe the 'official' pure and good version of Soldier Boy and are often dissillusioned to discover that he's really just a drunken whoremonger. The man is not as big as his legend.

Reader Impression: Soldier Boy gave up the American Dream in order to defend that dream for others. Now that he's been cast aside he's bitter that he has so little to show for the time he gave so much of himself. It's not that he is after material gain, give the man a stiff drink and a loose woman and he's happy as a clam. What he's missing is his respect and stature. He's like an actor who used to rule the box office but now can only get character parts. He's been diminished and he doesn't like it.

Quirks:
Fond of rattling people's cages.
Has no shame.
Is entirely too fond of the f-bomb.
Doesn’t know how to whisper.
Competitive.
Doesn't respect personal space.

Appearance: Taller than most and broad at the shoulders. He's muscular as hell, but he looks softer than he once did. His abs are not as well defined any more. Not everyone can tell the difference, but he can. He keeps his thick graying hair cut short. He maintains a thick moustache to which he is married. Somebody once told him he looked like a porn star from the seventies, so he keeps the moustache out of spite. His face is weathered and wrinkled. He looks older than his fifty-eight years. In his civilian ID he wears jeans with tee shirts and either athletic shoes or hiking boots.

Stats: With a COM of 14 he's a good looking man, but no movie star. His 20 PRE makes him hard to ignore. He has a strong force of personality. When in costume and recognized as Soldier Boy, his PRE shoots up to 30.

Powers: He's really strong and he's really tough. That's about all he has going for him power-wise. He's not the hero he once was. He has to dig deep to get the full effect of his incredible strength, and use of his superhuman power levels quickly leaves him exhausted. He can leap distances of well over 100 feet, and he makes for a real good punching bag.

Kate Sutherland/Raven

Kate Sutherland / Raven

Reposting to compare Kate and Raven in one post:

1. First Impression:
* Kate is a charming and personable woman, interested in everything you have to say and easy to talk to.
* Raven is sensual, impulsive, direct and views the world with grim amusement. She's unpredictable and quite possibly mad.

2. Reader Impression:
* Kate is patient, methodical and driven. She seldom makes a move she hasn't thought through very carefully. She plays her cards close to her vest--she knows not everyone can be trusted, not even all those she works with in the District Attorney's office.
* Raven is everything Kate is not--impulsive, sensual, direct and violent. She treats the world like her own private nightmare, and reality does appear to twist whenever she's around. She shares Kate's desire to see justice done--but not her idealism. She's much more of an "eye for an eye" girl.

3. Quirks:
* Kate tries to hide the fact that she needs to wear reading glasses.
* Raven always wears black. Her presence frightens small children and animals.

4a. Physical Appearance:
* Kate is a little taller than average (5'8"), with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes. She always dresses well--but conservatively.
* Raven is of average height, but slender. Black hair, dark eyes.

4b. Noticeable Stats:
* Kate is attractive, but not a knockout (COM 16). She's sharp and self-confident, but most of all she's poised, cool under pressure, and hard to intimidate or impress (PRE 20).
* Raven is moves very well (DEX 23), but her most striking feature is the sense that she's somehow more real than everyone and everything else (PRE 30). Unless she's deliberately trying to blend in, she stands out quite sharply.

4c. Powers, Skills, and Disads of Note: * Kate's only power is her ability to transform into Raven. It isn't likely to come up....

    • Kate is an excellent conversationist, at ease in high society, and very familiar with both the law enforcement and criminal subcultures of Hudson City.
    • She's a very aggressive (and successful) prosecutor, with a reputation as one of the rare truly honest prosecutors--or as a trouble-maker with no regard for "professional courtesy" or the "practicalities" of life in Hudson City, depending on which side of the fence you're on.
    • Kate has made enemies of both corrupt cops and underworld criminals. She's survived one attempt on her life and is more careful of her own safety as a result--but hasn't stopped pursuing justice.

* Raven understands that the so-called real world is merely a collective nightmare.

  • As a lucid dreamer, she can manipulate that dream, exhibiting superhuman strength or speed, as well as altering the landscape around her to suit her dark purposes.
  • Raven has made a lot of enemies in her pursuit of justice who'd like to see her dead.
  • Raven's skewed perception of reality hasn't made her a lot friends on the right side of the law either--she's viewed (with some justification) as a dangerous lunatic.

TCQ Character Profile This

TCQ Character Profile

This is a double post, I also put it under assignments, but it felt very relevant to this thread.

Since these are going over so well, I've added a Character Profile to each of your Character's Personal Wiki page. If you'd like to fill it out, I'll give you an additional XP point for it.

Thanks to Koslov for sharing this with me, when I asked. He used it for his Guardians game. ...and thanks to Admelior for suggesting I turn it into a wiki template.

Edit: This isn't mandatory, but really, nothing is mandatory. It's a game! ...feel free to delete it from your Character's Wiki if you don't wanna mess with it.

---

This is worth 1 XP if you fill it out by December 1st.

Here is a sample of the questions - http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/tcq-character-profile

However, to fill it out, go to you're character's personal page and paste it at the bottom. http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/cast

Celeste Frazier / Phase

1. Most people’s first impression of Celeste is simply – ‘Wow’. She is both charismatic and beautiful. She is friendly and outgoing, and will make conversation easily with just about anyone.

2. Everything Celeste does is done with style and poise; her actions, her speech, her clothes, everything. Everything she wears seems perfect for the occasion – regardless of the price tag. When she speaks, she chooses her words carefully, and she always appears to give her full attention to whoever she is talking to. She likes to be the center of attention, but she is very careful to avoid coming across as conceited.

3. Quirks:
Loves Fast Cars
Prefers the color indigo
Hates yappy dogs
Dislikes public washrooms
Likes coffee, not tea

4a. Celeste is an incredibly attractive Caucasian woman, standing a somewhat less than imposing 5’3”. While not muscular in appearance, she is perfectly toned, and she works very hard to stay that way. Her wavy black hair has seen many different lengths and styles, and currently falls to slightly past her shoulder blades. It has been probably a dozen years or more since anyone besides Celeste has seen her natural hazel eye colour; she uses specially made contacts to alter the colour to an odd yet striking indigo.

4b. Com: 20, Pre: 20. She is also exceptionally agile, far more so than a regular human.

5. Celeste’s powers are quite well known due to her prominent status in Hudson City. She teleports – that’s the long and the short of it. Reputation wise, she is well known for a lot of things, and most people either know her, or know of her. That’s the way she likes it. She makes it her business to know as much as she can about anyone and everyone that is or might be important. Also, possible because she is such a public figure, she has a tendency to attract bad attention along with the good.

1. Ideally, how would others see you when they first meet you. Like the First Impression (often times that might happen before words are even spoken)?

Stone's appearance, demeanor, and dress scream "don't fuck with me", while at the same time he doesn't come off as intimidating. He looks like a real bad-ass, in all his biker wear and the mirrored sunglasses he never takes off, and the long pro-wrestler-like hair hanging down around his head. He's not a slave to fashion, and depending on where he's been riding or sleeping he might be dusty, even a little dirty. The first time you meet him you might think he's mute. He's quiet, withdrawn, and doesn't speak much at all. He's handsome in a rugged, macho, bad-boy way.

Quote:
2. When someone reads your character what are three things that you would like to see portrayed.

  • His being unimpressed at just about everything
  • His ability to use body language - a sigh, a look, a turn of the head - to communicate
  • His quiet strength and easygoing nature, which belie his bad-ass facade once you get to know him

Quote:
3. Quirks. Even if you didn't take them as disads, what are a few of your character's quirks.

  • He's a minimalist. By that, I mean, he has no posessions beyond what he can carry on his bike.
  • He's homeless.
  • Neither of the above is because he's poor. It's a lifestyle choice.
  • He never judges a book by it's cover, and if you do, it's not his problem. He's the least judgemental person you'd likely ever meet.
  • The idea of a mentalist is a direct affront to his personal freedom. You might be better off just forgetting to tell him if you're one.
Quote:
4a. Character's Appearance. Feel free to paste this from your background.

Pasted from his background:

Stone stands at 184 cm in height, roughly 6’ tall. His body shape is that of a fit, well-defined individual, without being grotesquely oversize or body-builder in appearance. Think athlete, not professional wrestler. His body is free from blemish – no tattoos, no piercings, no scars, no defining marks of any kind other than a half-moon birthmark discoloration on the inside of his left knee.

He keeps his black hair long, down to his shoulders, and sometimes ties it in a ponytail with a common rubber band. On occasion he’ll cut it short, usually on a whim, but he prefers wearing it long. His deep brown eyes are almost always hidden behind chrome-mirror sunglasses. On the rare occasion when they are revealed, Stone’s eyes convey a sad, almost haunting coolness. For the past five years he’s maintained a goatee beard which he keeps trimmed to a length of about three-quarters of an inch.

Biker boots are a staple of Stone’s dress code. It’s usually the classic black side-strap-with-metal-loop boots or bare feet. Moving up, he wears jeans for pants, preferring dark blue denim but wearing the occasional faded blue or black pair. A silver metal buckle with an oval blue stone fastens his black dual-eye leather belt. The buckle was obtained from a dusty roadside reservation souvenir cart back in the New Mexico desert and it serves as a reminder of where he comes from and the biker values important to him. A T-shirt, either white, gray, or black, covers his torso. A black leather riding jacket completes the outfit. On occasion he’ll wear a bandana, either as a headdress or tied around his leg just below his right knee.

Stone’s physical appearance and ruggedly handsome yet dangerous look gives him tremendous presence in any room. He rarely has to ask someone to get out of his way, and even just standing still he radiates a quiet confidence and exudes a strong, attention-drawing vibe – ironically the last thing he wants.

Quote:
4b. Tangible stats. Comliness, Charisma, Strengh (if applicable). Anything else that you feel the other players should have an idea of just by looking.

In terms of appearance stats he's got 18 COM and 18 PRE. Otherwise he doesn't appear superhuman, just a good genetic specimen.

Quote:

  • Stone has total life support, meaning he neither eats nor sleeps. He doesn't need to breathe if he doesn't want to. He can deal with just about any environment including outer space without a suit. I love seeing this come out in the game. I think it's one of the coolest powers ever.
  • Stone has the physical lim "feels no pain". That is always fun to role play.
  • He also has the social lim "chick magnet", and while most men would love that, Stone finds it more something to be tolerated, an unfortunate side effect of the bad-boy image he's worked so hard to cultivate in an attempt to keep everyone away.

Stone - January 1st - April

Stone - January 1st - April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team?  How are they proactively contributing, if at all?

Not proactively, no.  Stone will, for the most part, follow orders when they are given.  But his doing so is motivated more from not wanting to make Nemesis look bad for bringing him in.  His heart isn't really into it, though he doesn't wear it on his sleeve.

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?

Mainly getting to know the lay of the land, riding around the city learning the streets, making contacts here and there.  He's focusing on the rich biker culture in Hudson City, looking towards a long-term goal of creating a biker network of contacts.  He's also working on a project with the hypercycles in the garage.  Ardent's bike has been completely deconstructed and dissassembled into parts that are spread out on a long workbench tagged with a very big "DO NOT TOUCH" sign.

How is your character fairing in boot camp?  Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?

Hard to say without knowing what goes on in boot camp and what we get exposed to there.  Are we fighting each other?  Are we fighting with the trainer?  I don't think there's anything at the Cathedral that Stone can't lift or break.  Hell, Stone could lift the Cathedral.  He's as tough as a hardened 35d and a 30 CON, and he literally feels no pain, so he never seems tired or fazed.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?

Yes, he lives in suite #3.  Ardent was the next door down, so other than Soldier Boy down the hall in suite #6 he has no neighbors I'm aware of.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone?  If so, who?

Stone doesn't have a secret ID per se.  His official name is a matter of public record, but he hasn't used it in over a decade and since he's been homeless that entire time there aren't any government records with the name during that time, and nothing linking it to Stone.  So while it's not necessarily secret, I'm not sure how anyone would go about finding out.

And no, he hasn't mentioned it to anyone.  Everybody knows him as Stone, all of the time.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character?  Do anything over and above for them?  (example would be:  Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)

Heh.  That's something I told China I was going to do because Stone a) thinks Heatwave did the right thing, and b) felt partly responsible since he told her to blow off Soldier Boy.  So the first time she gets left back at the base while the team heads out on a job, he'll arrange for a pizza and a six-pack to be delivered while on the way to wherever.  Nemesis is Stone's only real friend, and the only person he'll feel comfortable around.  He always has Nem's back - that's his main reason for being there in the first place.

What is your character's general mood?  Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc.  If it varies from team member to team member be specific.

Stone is fairly stand-offish with everyone.  He tends to not speak unless required during team meetings.  He is verbally hostile to JACE, whom he loathes.  While he may get discordant in private, he'll never disrespect Soldier Boy, Nemesis, or Ophilia in front of the team unless they really ask for it.  He's been assigned the task of teaching anybody who wants to learn how to ride the hypercycles, and anyone who approaches him will find him (surprising or no) to be a patient and competent instructor.  He's taught lots of people to ride, and this would likely be a good way to connect with him if you were interested.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?

Stone will continue to research and follow leads into the Soldier Boy Project with the goal of identifying the female technician SB spoke of in their joint post.  Otherwise, no.

Anything else worth mentioning?  Relationships?  Friends?

Stone doesn't do relationships.  That being said, while he wouldn't call her, if he ran into Tara again or she called him he'd certainly be open to a booty call or a dirty stay-out.  :)  But he doesn't really do the "date" thing.  You won't see him at a restaurant with a woman, for example.

JACE: January 1st to April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team?  How are they proactively contributing, if at all?

JACE would spend most of his time working in the laboratory.  The first thing he would do after getting in from the party is remove any experiments that were even vaguely personal in nature.  Everything he would do in the lab would be directly related to helping the Conquistadors.  Improving the performance of the hoverbikes and communicators, setting up security for the Cathedral, things like that.  If any of the other characters were willing to let him test them, he would happily run various tests to determine the extent of their powers.  None of these tests would be more painful than a shot, most would just involve using their powers under various circumstances.  Any medical question or scientific puzzle brought to him would get his full attention for as long as it took to solve it.

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?

Working on his personal experiments at home.  Specifically he would be working on his longevity experiments, his viral modification experiments, and various devices for sale.  In his secured, offline system at home he would be planning devices to defeat the other members of the team based on information he gained during their physicals and monitoring bootcamp.  He continues to patrol, dealing with any crimes he finds and following up on any leads he may discover.  Evenings are spent in various cities around the world, with or without Celeste.  In addition he will be testing Emily, trying to determine the source of the phenomena she experienced.  If possible, these tests will include Ophilia, although those would be at the Cathedral.

How is your character fairing in boot camp?  Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?

JACE would generally avoid boot camp.  Unless Soldier Boy was both insistant and convincing, JACE wouldn't generally bother to show up.  He would consider his time much too valuable to waste.  Assuming SB was insistant and convinced him to come, he would prove to be capable and versatile, but probably with less raw power than the others.  He would avoid sparring with the others but, if forced, would generally come in with devices designed to take advantage of their weaknesses.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?

No.  He lives at his home.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone?  If so, who?

He has a public ID and everyone would know who he was already.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character?  Do anything over and above for them?  (example would be:  Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)

The only one might be Soldier Boy.  JACE is fascinated by the older hero and wants to be his friend, although he has no real knowledge of how to do so.  He would certainly show him more respect than anyone else on the team.  He also really wants to discover what makes the old man tick, so he would be willing to offer nearly any incentive to get him into JACE's lab.

What is your character's general mood?  Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc.  If it varies from team member to team member be specific.

JACE would be stand offish but polite to a fault.  If a hero has a public ID he will call them by their title, for example Ophilia will always be Ms. DiSantiago.  If they don't he will use their Superhero name but will always use their full name.  No matter how anyone treats him, he will maintain this politeness.  On the other hand, he will never use sir, ma'am or any other honorific unless someone has actually earned it.  (ie.  being knighted)  He will always have his psi-blocker on when in the Cathedral or near Ophilia.  Generally he avoids the rest of the team unless they have a problem for him to solve or he needs them for something.  The open hostility of Stone would puzzle him since they have had virtually no contact, but he would just assume mental instability and assume Sebastion will deal with it.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?

Not really, unless he finds something while patrolling that would make the team look good to deal with.  Then he would bring it to Nemesis' attention.

Anything else worth mentioning?  Relationships?  Friends?

Not really, although he will work to keep Celeste and Emily away from the Cathedral and the Conquistadors as much as possible.

What has your Character been
What has your Character been doing on the team?  How are they proactively contributing, if at all?
Nemesis spends a lot of time at the Cathedral in the first few weeks after New Years, helping with administrative stuff, training (planning, teaching and learning), and getting used to the new informational resources he has available. He’ll also be compiling potential cases and/or targets for the team. For at least the first month he’ll make himself as available as possible to anyone and everyone. During the second and third months that will taper off somewhat, but he’ll still be around for training and the occasional administrative visits.

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?
As everyone will soon see, Nemesis will have some interesting issues come up when he’s not with the team.

How is your character fairing in boot camp?  Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?
I’m assuming he’ll do fairly well in boot camp. Nemesis is a dedicated and focused individual when it comes to crime fighting, and learning to work with teammates is just another aspect of his training.

Strengths and weaknesses – it should become apparent to most that Nemesis can, if not immediately then usually fairly quickly, come up with a gadget for just about any occasion. Similarly he thinks and adapts quickly. As for weaknesses, none are readily apparent outside of the fact that, once the fancy costume and gadgets are taken away, he is simply a very well trained person. In other words, he’s tough, but only in comparison to the average Joe. Just about everyone with powers is a threat to him; he knows it and adjusts accordingly.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?
For the first month Nemesis is just as likely to crash at the Cathedral as not. By February and March, though, he usually only spends one, maybe two nights a week there, depending on what’s going on.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone?  If so, who?
Other than his cast of DNPCs (Pops and the Thin Grey Line)…well, we’ll have to see. On the team, only Ophilia, Sebastian, Stone and Jag know who he is. So far. That'll change later on down the road, I'm sure.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character?  Do anything over and above for them?  (example would be:  Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)
Nemesis is trying to build at least a general relationship with everyone on the team. If that means stopping by with coffee or breakfast or whatever during monitor duty, then that’s what he does. He really is trying to be friendly, if not outright friends, with everyone. Stone is about the only person on the team that Nemesis will socialize with outside of team-related functions.

What is your character’s general mood?  Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc.  If it varies from team member to team member be specific.
As noted, Nemesis is usually pretty friendly. Not that he can’t get frustrated and be all “grouchy manager guy” on occasion, but he’s trying to be supportive and open with everyone. The exceptions are the DiSantiagos—Ophilia (for reasons which everyone knows), Raphael and Sebastian are treated with polite, even friendly professionalism, but anyone with half a brain would see that he’s a touch more guarded around them than just about anyone else.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?
To be determined and/or discussed.

Anything else worth mentioning?  Relationships?  Friends?
Stay tuned for more stuff “worth mentioning”...

Heatwave - January 1st - April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team? How are they proactively contributing, if at all?

While stuck on monitor duty Heatwave will only spend as much time in the Cathedral and with the team as she has to. Afterward it would depend on the team's reaction to her off duty exploits. (upcoming fiction piece)

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?

What she hasn't been allowed to do on the team, going out and fighting the bad guys. She's also spending a majority of her time tracking down a lead she received on who wanted her husband taken out.

How is your character fairing in boot camp? Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?

Heatwave is willing to do what it takes to learn how to work as a team. It will be obvious she doesn't have a lot of experience using her power and seems a bit reluctant to push her powers too far.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?

No, she continues to live at her apartment in Lafayette.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone? If so, who?

Yes, she has revealed her secret ID to Paladin. She still keeps it secret from everyone else on the team. - edited

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character? Do anything over and above for them? (example would be: Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)

By her very nature Heatwave will often go out of her way to do something nice for others. Whether it's bring them coffee while they are on monitor duty or helping them with some task she doesn't need to. The only exception is JACE, whom she avoids as much as possible.

What is your character's general mood? Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc. If it varies from team member to team member be specific.

Heatwave is generally friendly and helpful though she often seems haunted by something if she is observed when no one else is around. The three notable exceptions are JACE, Soldier Boy, and Paladin. While she is polite to him it is clear Heatwave dislikes JACE and she avoids him when she can. Soldier Boy she has mixed feelings about. She respects him for his age and accomplishment but is disappointed in his behavior. She knows he was serious about his promise to help her and is grateful but at the same time she is furious with what she sees as him trying to keep her from doing what she needs to. Heatwave seems to genuinely like Paladin and treats him as a real friend and not just a coworker. - edited

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?

To be determined/discussed with the GM.

Anything else worth mentioning? Relationships? Friends?

Heatwave does not trust anyone enough to become friends though this does not stop her from being friendly. She just doesn't let anyone get close. The exception to this is Paladin who she is developing a friendship with. - edited

Ophilia DiSantiago (Jan-March)

January 1st - April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team?  How are they proactively contributing, if at all?
Other than performing her administrative duties, and participating in required boot camp and field exercises, Ophilia is rarely at the Cathedral.  For the team members, that doesn't really seem odd, because that's all they've seen of her.  But for the staff, it's a significant difference from before, when she practically lived there.  It seems as though she's trying to treat it as a job instead of as her life.

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?
Phi is spending time reconnecting with the family and friends that she's neglected over the past few months.  Her evenings are primarily spent at home, watching television or movies and hacking around on her computer.  She has not tried to reconnect with Mason or attempted to pursue any other interesting relationships, and is instead resuming (as much as she can) the normal non social life that she had before.

How is your character fairing in boot camp?  Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?
Phi is really struggling in boot camp during physical exercises.  At first she's fine and it's obvious that she's fit, but prolonged exercises, or a day full of training, stresses her significantly.  She also takes longer than others to pick up on any type of self defense or martial maneuvers.  She's persistent and stubborn and will never leave until she's gotten the hang of something, even if she's exhausted.  She also seems to like to work alone when she's having difficulties, and will usually politely refuse help if it's offered (especially if the offer comes from Nemesis).  So she gets an A+ for effort but it's damn hard on her.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?
Phi has a room at the Cathedral, but has only stayed in it on nights that she's had monitor duty.  She maintains a nice apartment in Bankhurst, it's the same place that she's been living for years.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone?  If so, who?
Phi has revealed her identity to everyone on the team, and most of her family is also aware that she is Marionette.  This includes Ardent.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character?  Do anything over and above for them?
Ophilia has tried to be warm and professional to all of those on the team, but seems a bit leery to make any heavy personal attachments.  She would consider all of her team mates as friends, but tries to be gaurded about depending too much on them.  The exceptions to this are Sebastion, Nemesis (less of late) and Soldier Boy.

What is your character's general mood?  Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc.  If it varies from team member to team member be specific.
The newcomers wouldn't notice that her mood has changed much.  But the staff and likely Stone, would have noticed that the chemistry between Nemesis and Phi has shifted.  Easy laughs, playful banter and light flirtations are pretty much non existant between the two of them.  They're both polite and professional, and he remains easy going, but her demeanor tends to be overly professional and to the point, when dealing with him.

She probably goes out of her way more for Heatwave and Stone more than she does for anyone else.  She sees them both, as outsiders of sorts, fish out of water, and really tries to do what she can to make them feel welcome.

Sebastian and Nemesis would also likely note that she seems to be losing the chip on her shoulder where Raphael is concerned.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?
Not yet.

Anything else worth mentioning?  Relationships?  Friends?
Christie Danner is a civilian and knows about the Cathedral.  She drops by sometimes for visits and seems to have Ophilia's complete trust.

She also took a week vacation immediately after the team went live.  Following is a blurb I wrote for a JP I was working on, much of it is repetitive, but I thought I would include it.

Ophilia came back from her vacation rested and far more serene than when she'd left.  She's been attending boot camp, and trying about as hard as you suspect she can, but is very much not a natural like the others.  Other than boot camp, she's buried herself in the administrative side of things and public relations.  Setting up appearances for the team and working with local law enforcement agencies to try to find a way that they can help. Her presence at the Cathedral has been way limited compared to what it used to be.  She goes home when she's done and seems to be treating it more like a job than as her life.  She hasn't thrown any bobbles at anyone or raised her voice since her vacation.  *grin*  (That is SO much easier to do when we're handwaving time.)  Her manner is professional and polite and the only one that seems to grate on her any more is JACE.

Avatar (Jan - March)

What has your character been doing on the team?  How are they proactively contributing, if at all?

Other than getting to know everyone (and doing whatever research on them he can do without attracting attention) Avatar has been investigating the supernatural side of Hudson City, particularly the Succubus Club. He may not be sharing everything he learns about the Club. He will have touched base with Ardent, and probably Henry Hudson, and identified any other potentially useful contacts.

What has your Character been doing outside of the team?

Trying to understand Trinity's book, and doing a little digging on the teammates. And usual real life stuff: running the gallery, doing the occasional case for the police, etc.

How is your character faring in boot camp?  Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?

Having a healthy sense of self-preservation, Avatar has been taking boot camp very seriously. He doesn't have a lot of fighting experience so it's probably been going slowly. His big tactic is to get out of the way and send his avatar into the fray. He's not a combat monster: he has low defenses and doesn't hit very hard other than the Ego Blast.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?

Ed has his own place in Bayside, but crashes at the Cathedral once or twice a week.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone?  If so, who?

He might have revealed it to Heatwave, to impress her that he trusts her.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character?  Do anything over and above for them?  (example would be:  Stone ordering Pizza and a beer for Heatwave when she's on monitor duty while suspended.)

It would be presumptuous for me to just decide he has a special relationship with another character, but here's how I imagine things could go. In general, Ed plays to the people around him. With Soldier Boy, Ed will be more relaxed and rowdy. Around Phaze he'd be flirtatious, taciturn with Stone, etc.

Ed the weasel will try to befriend Nemesis and Ophilia. He sort-of likes and admires Nemesis. He's more wary of Ophilia; he doesn't trust psychics.

JACE and Orion are dangerous, and Avatar would tend to (politely) avoid them. Once he's more at home he might try to get to know Orion better.

Ed will identify Heatwave as the person most likely to take him at face value, and cultivate that relationship.

Ed won't respect Celeste or Sebastien, but they're the kind of people he likes to be seen with. So I have no idea how that will go. He'll be trying to figure out how good a shrink Sebastien is, and how much he can be himself around the team therapist.

Stone and Ed could get along great...in theory. Ed is a beer guy trying to be a champagne guy, so he'll find Stone to be refreshing. Problem is, Stone sort of represents what Ed is trying not to be.

What is your character's general mood?  Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc.  If it varies from team member to team member be specific.

Ed is good at being likable without being smarmy or trying too hard. He's trying to present himself as someone with arcane knowledge so he'll probably come off a little aloof or stuffy at first, but basically a good guy.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?

Avatar will discover that Trinity is the daughter of an old Hudson City family, who until a few years ago was in a "rest home" in upstate New York. He will probably dig up more dirt on the Succubus Club, though again, he has a grudge against them and may not share everything with the team.

He's also spending some time trying to track down any information on his pendant. He strongly suspects it had something to do with his miraculous recovery after the Succubus fiasco, so he'll put some effort into researching it, while at the time being kind of leery about what he'll find.

In terms of story hooks, Edison Palmer is a consultant for the homicide department, and there are possibilities there for side stories.

Anything else worth mentioning?  Relationships?  Friends?

Ed's personal life probably suffers during the three month gap, as he will be splitting his time between The Conquistadors and his occult research.

TCQ Character Profile - Daniel McClain

Section A - History

Question 1: When you were a child – what was your favorite toy?

  •  My slingshot. I was the terror of the lane with it. I'd go after just about anyone: family, friends, postmen, the village dogs. I'd lie in wait behind the hedgerows and try and smack people in the arse with the thing. I found smooth stones that I'd get from the bay to be the best of ammo.

Question 2: Who was your best friend when you were eight? Are you still in touch? If not, why not?

  •  Linus Poole. His dad was from Britain, his mum from India. Bit of a mongrel, but we got on like a house on fire. Both our parents worked for DP, and his family lived about 3 kilometers down Post Road from us, in an old carriage house. We'd tear around the hills in Ringaskiddy on our bikes, and hang out near the quay at Haulbowline, or pester the lads at the naval base for money and fags. We lost touch when his parents moved back ta Britain when we were 13. There were a few letters sure, but that stopped soon enough.

Question 3: What was your best school memory?

  •  Kissing June Cartten in Junior High, right after taking the Junior Certificate. We'd been study partners forever, and I had a crush on her something fierce. I finished first and waited for her under this grove of trees outside the school. She came out, we stared at each other, and I asked if I could kiss her, because I wanted something that wasn't bolloxed to remember the day by. She grabbed me by the ears and kissed me from here ta there. It was grand.

Danny McClain

1. First Impression:
* Danny is a charming and funny man, handsome in an earthy way - it's obvious he knows he's good-looking, but he also isn't arrogant about it. Easy to get along with. Capable. Friendly.

2. Reader Impression:
* Danny is energetic, eager and level-headed, with a pretty good sense of humor. He won't bite off more than he can chew, and will play up The Irish if he thinks it can help him win someone over. He tries to deal with people on their own terms, not his.

3. Quirks:
* Danny tries to get along with everyone, almost to the point of being obnoxious - like the friendly puppy who instinctively seeks to win the hearts of dog-haters everywhere.

4a. Physical Appearance:
* Danny is a little shorter than average, standing at 5' 9". He is broad of shoulder, narrow of hip, with sky-blue eyes and coal black hair. He keeps fit by practicing Judo, running and Yoga. He dresses well, but always seeks to have his clothes fit the situation.

4b. Noticeable Stats:
* Danny is attractive, but not a knockout (COM 16). He's faster than a normal person by far (SPEED 5), and can manipulate his stats to fit the situation to a degree.

4c. Powers, Skills, and Disads of Note:

    • Powers: Danny is a healer of considerable talent, who can even reverse the effects of aging and restore longevity given time. He can re-attach or re-grow severed limbs, erase scaring, and even restore someone's senses. He is unable to cure diseases of the mind, or restore lost memories or skills. His healing is constantly renewing his own body as well. Danny also can manipulate flesh and the body in a number of ways, both pleasant (remove scaring, improve someone's com) to unpleasant (seal up someone's face, fuse arms and legs together). He is capable of generating numerous changes within his own body as well, including enhancing physical abilities and defenses, generating biological weaponry, etc. He is still learning how this aspect of his powers work however, and is loathe to damage another person if he can avoid it
    • Skills:  Danny is an amazing cook, and speaks numerous languages fluently. He is also accomplished in Judo. He has excellent intuition, and is able to fit in just about anywhere socially.
    • Disads:  Danny loves a good joke, and sometimes takes things a wee bit far. He can become tired very quickly if he does a lot of serious healing in rapid succession.

Soldier Boy - January through March

January 1st - April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team? How are they proactively contributing, if at all?
Are you shitting me? I've been busting my hump getting all you wannabes in fighting shape and you ask me a question like that? When I'm not actually training you rejects, which is most of my goddamn time by the way, I'm equiping the training room with all sorts of fun toys like, sand bag cannons, a knockback wall, an aerial maze, and most recently a MetaFlex 1KT so that Stone can have something to pump iron on.

What has your character been doing outside the team?
Been pretty busy at the Cathedral, so I don't get out much. Maybe once or twice a week. I've been looking for a good place to get a drink. Finding a place that has the right atmosphere and personality is harder than you'd think. Eventually I'll have tried every bar in the city. Swear to god.

How is your character fairing in boot camp? Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?

I am boot camp, bitches.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?

Yeah, the apartments here are just fine for me. I'm a man of simple needs. If I have a bed, a bar, a fridge, a toilet, and a TV with a subscription to all the porn channels then I'm set.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone? If so, who?
Well, Phi, Nemesis and the head shrinker, of course. Stone's seen me without the mask, but I don't think I dropped the name. There's a funny story behind that, but I'll let Stone tell it. He was sober enough to remember all of it. I've been thinking about that secret identity thing recently. I'm starting to wonder if I give a shit one way or another.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character? Do anything over and above for them?
Phi. Poor thing still has no idea what she's in for. I've been trying to look out for her when I can. Me and Nemesis are getting chummy when he's not chewing me out for nothing at all. The rest of the team probably just sees me as the sadist behind boot camp. Their loss.

What is your character's general mood? Friendly, stand offish, helpful, etc. If it varies from team member to team member be specific.
I've always thought of myself as an easy going guy, but I have it on good authority from about everyone I've ever met that I'm a son of a bitch. Guess I have to take their word for it. No sign of that changing any time soon.

Are there any leads that you bring the team from your old life of crime fighting or that you discover during the 3 months down time?
I still keep in touch with a few people. Each one of them is an expert in one field or another. They'll probably prove useful before to long.

Anything else worth mentioning? Relationships? Friends?
Not really. I woke up screaming a couple of nights, but nothing unusual.

Kate Sutherland/Raven

January 1st - April 1st

What has your Character been doing on the team? How are they proactively contributing, if at all?
I'm not on the team. (Pout.) Nah, kidding. Raven isn't a team player as a rule. She'll cooperate when necessary (as demonstrated when she worked with Soldier Boy and Heatwave et al to deal with the Cartel Cocktail). But joining an honest-to-god team? Sharing secret identities? Tearing away the veil of mystery by submitting to physicals? Not a chance!

What has your character been doing outside the team?
Kate has thrown herself into her work again to distract herself from the pain of Michael breaking up with her at the DiSantiago New Year's Eve part, the jerk. When she's honest with herself, she'll admit that he had good reasons for doing so, but it's more cathartic to blame him.

Raven's been continuing to patrol the city--mostly by night, since Kate has a day job. She terrorizes and kicks the asses of bad guys. Sometimes she turns them over to the authorities if she's got evidence they can actually use; more often, she administers her own form of justice in the form of beatings, broken bones, destroyed product (for drug dealers) and confiscated proceeds to fund her one woman crime fighting operation.

But all work and no play makes Raven a dull girl (Kate too, but she never listens), so she makes sure to take time to smell the roses. And by "smell the roses" she means drink, dance, carouse, pick up or be picked up by men and the occasional woman, and generally do all the things Kate would secretly like to do if she'd just admit it.

How is your character fairing in boot camp? Any weaknesses or strengths that the others would pick up on?
Not in boot camp. Raven's reputation is a dangerous lunatic is fairly widespread, as is her hobby of making life miserable for a particular crime family. Her tendency to haunt low rent dives, drinking and carousing, isn't as widely known, but it's not exactly a secret either.

Has your character been living at the Cathedral? If not, where?
Nope. Kate lives in the same apartment she's had for years. Raven has no fixed address, though she often squats in empty apartments or homes belonging to people who've gone missing. As long as the rent is paid (in cold, hard anonymous cash via the mail or drop box), it's amazing how often landlords don't notice (or care if they do) who's really living there.

Has your character revealed his secret identity to anyone? If so, who?
Not intentionally. But Henry Hudson now knows that Kate Sutherland and Raven are one and the same.

Has your character developed a special relationship with another character? Do anything over and above for them?
