TCQ: Journal Entries: Fiction Pieces, Joint Posts, Diaries, etc.
To help make the game richer and more real, I'll be encouraging (XP!) character pieces outside of the main game file. These can be solo pieces, posts with one or more characters, character blogs, diaries or letters. Anything that you can think of that would help us as a reader get to know your character better.
Do to the nature of the game the GM will expect out of character information to remain secret even after it is revealed in a posted fiction piece or game move. I'll have a page dedicated in my wiki to 'who knows what'. As things are revealed on the front page, I will add the information to any of the characters that know it. If it isn't on your list, you don't know it, unless you can make a convincing case to me otherwise. I will also use this for my recurring NPC's to help me from stepping my foot in it.

Comments
Should I Comment?
After a journal entry is made, at the bottom there are several things that a reader can click on, one of which is 'Add New Comment'.
Some people find it hard to post fiction pieces, so this is an opportunity, if you've found it enjoyable, to leave a comment or encouragement. It's also a great way to clarify any questions you might have, or provide us some insight on what your character would have thought about the piece had s/he known it had happened.
It's by no means a contest to see who can get the most comments! ...but it does feel good as a writer to know if someone enjoyed your piece or if it brought forth some sort of emotional response.
As a GM, I encourage you to support your fellow cast in the game by commenting when you have a chance to do so.
Please refrain from offering critiques or negative comments unless they were specifically asked for.
GM Editing
As some of you may know, I'm a bit of an organizational freak. Rather than give you guys a whole bunch of rules to follow, I'll just let you know right now, that I'll be hopping into files occasionally to fix things to my liking.
I'm not talking about anything serious, here. Just minor terminology issues, or editing for consistency.
Some examples might include.
- correcting typos if I see them.
- switching pictures from one gallery to another
- swapping text around in a game file to make for a better flow
- adding a few words to a title (Like TCQ: - if it's forgotten)
Some examples of things I already meddled with.
- Switched Mister Amazing from the Guardians Gallery to the Conquistador's Gallery
- Added (AKA: Jeff Melbourne) to the title of Mister Amazing's Picture, to help with name recognition since we're just ramping up
This is stuff I don't mind doing...and almost can't help doing. IF you anticipate having a problem with this, let me know, and I'll be sure to keep my hands out of your stuff, and request the changes through you.
Hey guys,
Now that we've moved into the meat of the game, we need to change how we're assigning our fiction/blog pieces, a bit.
Basically, if the piece takes place before the team goes live, before 12.31.08, assign them the same as always. (under side pieces or prequels - if it relates directly to the story of becoming a Conquistador)
If the story takes place after the game goes live, I want you to assign it to Season One. This can get a bit tricky, so I'm happy to go in and make sure it falls where I want it to. But the idea is to be able to cycle through season one, using the previous/next function at the bottom of each piece, so that you can read both game moves and individual/joint posts - IN the order that they fall chronologically.
When assigning to season one, select the game file that it falls after, if it's available. If it isn't directly spawned from a game move, just assign it to Season One and I'll order it as things come together. If you're curious how I do this, I use the 'weight' feature in the book outline options. I'm happy to write up detailed directions, but just as happy to go in behind you and make sure they're where I want them. I've arlready done this with Myth Busters.
I wanted to write a quick note to let you guys know that I'm behind in reading the fiction pieces. I'm looking forward to reading them...but with summer time, it's getting harder to find quiet time when I can absorb them.
The last one that I read was Part 1 of 'I Love a Rainy Night'.
Just didn't want anyone getting antsy wondering why I haven't said anything to them yet about their piece!
I had a nightmare about fiction pieces. I woke up in my dream and boot camp wasn't on the front page any more...it was already buried. Obviously I need to catch up on my reading before my psyche revolts again.
