XP

I'll be handing out XP as each scenario comes to a close.  Which I hope will at least be every quarter.

XP is a delicate issue, I don't plan on making it public but if character sheets get posted, then they will be visible. Just go ahead and start your "I Hate Richard Smith Club". *grin*

Holler if you see some potential issues or if you have any comments on things I might not have taken into consideration. Poke holes in it now rather than later.

Category Points Explanation
Participation 1 You breathed, you posted, you stayed in the game long enough to reach an XP point.

Quality Role Play 1 - 3 How well did you write your character? How much inposition was there? How creative were you in using the tools I (and the other characters) gave you to help drive or develop the scenes, or the game world itself? How well did you use your character's resources to solve problems, get out of predicaments -- or keep from getting in them in the first place?

Quantity Role Play 1 - 3 Those of you working hard every week to drive the story, to make or keep things happening, to try and unravel the mysteries, to understand the game world, and who help bring NPCs to the table and breathe life into them. ...IF you need help finding angles to participate, give me a holler, or post in the Request Hotline. This won't be a winner loser deal...all can get max participation, you won't be competing against each other.

Fiction pieces 1-3 per story Depending on length and depth of the piece. Defining a piece by title or series. Most will get 1 point, in rare cases they'll be worth more. If a piece is split into multiple posts it will likely get 2 points, maybe more depending on how involved they are. (examples are the Soldier Boy Wife Series and Nemesis' Infinity series. Obviously worth more than 1 point, even though the content has the same title or series.)

Joint Posts 1-2 per story/per player This also depends on length and depth of the piece.

Community points Varies For Filling Out Wiki Pages, helping GM with misc. as requested, being a community player to help keep others involved, Contributions to the forum might sometimes qualify, etc.

12.02.2008 - XP Thoughts

Port from old forum:

XP Thoughts

I sent out the update emails to those that already had their XP awards.

I recently looked over all of the sheets, and one thing that I'd like for you to consider when spending your XP, is maybe putting some points in Stun. I did a couple of mock throws with the characters, and if they got hit, they didn't tend to fair well with the damage I rolled. In most cased they ended up stunned.

I'll also be paying attention to endurance, so if you need that...there's another place to sink it.

I'll need to approve XP spending, but I doubt I'll be too difficult.

I will say that I won't allow anyone to increase their speed past a speed of 5, though. If you have a 4, you can go to a 5, but right now...only those that started with a 6 or higher can have that.

Also, this is likely the only time I will allow you to raise your primary stats and talents, unless there is an in game reason (surgery, drugs, actual side pieces to support why it's getting higher). This time however, I'd like for you to get those stats where you would ideally like to have them. I don't plan on being unmoveable after this, I just want things to make a bit of sense.

Another thing to think on this time is skills. This is the time to add any skills that you had to scrimp on during creation. Going forward, skills will need to 'feel' like they were actually learned. (Side pieces, etc.) However this first award can be used freely on just about anything.

As far as armor goes...I'll let you increase that above the standard tech, since the DiSantiagos will be footing that bill, and have access to higher tech stuff. (Assuming you wanna pay the points for it.)

Lemme know if I'm forgetting anything or if you have questions regarding XP spending.

Disads

While you're at spending your XP, please take a look at your disadvantages. This is the time to make sure you have those how you want them.

Sometimes, we start playing our character and they have a way of taking on their own voice and personality that is sometimes a bit different than we originally imagined.

...so, feel free to take this opportunity to add quirks, and swap out disads if there are some that you don't see as viable any more.

I may, go ahead and hand out XP for everything in between the Prequels and the Staff meeting as well, so some of you might get some little hand outs. Depends on how motivated I get. If you're on the list that havn't received any XP yet, PLEASE make sure all of your stuff from LCG is ported over here and assigned to the TCQ book, cuz if it isn't I might miss it.

XP awarded to:
Epoch
Heatwave
JACE
Marionette
Mister Amazing
Nemesis
Orion
Raven
Saint
Soldier Boy

I still owe XP to:

Ardent
Avatar
Phase
Mason Willoughby

Everyone should now be up to date on XP.  Including Stone and Aarchon, which I forgot to list previously.

The only items not credited so far are:

  • Staff Meeting Thread
  • Soldier Boy & Stone - Hijinks Ensues
  • Mythbusters

It you notice the you weren't credited for something and it isn't on this list, give me a holler.

If you see some old blog posts, updated in the new/updated blogs block, it's because I had to assign a few to the TCQ book.

XP Award Example

Okay, it's been almost 3 months since you last received XP.  I think that most of you will be pleased with your upcoming XP awards, they are well deserved.

There was a lot of confusion last time, so I want to give an example to help you understand how I'm doing this.

Scroll down the the GM Notes section, and you will see a line that reads.  The FIRST number is how much you earned this scenario.  The last number is your TOTAL XP.  This does NOT reflect XP that you may have already spent...I can't keep up with all that.  It's a new and total over all.

You have earned 8XP this round, for a total of 23 XP.
