Artexercise,
Feel free to edit and/or delete any premade forums to your liking. Please put your game acronym at the beginning of new threads titles. Our current 'new forum post view' is primitive and needs an identifier.
This Thread is for player privileges and anything else that the Admin team may need to communicate! Including quick tutorials or faq references that might be useful.
Make her yours!

We have some first time users that will be joining us in this game, and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is China (Chairman), and I'm sort of the welcome wagon around here. I know that it can be pretty intimidating getting involved in a new community, sometimes, and I want to make sure that you guys feel welcome and know that we're happy to help if you have questions.
1. If you have questions about how this place works, please let us know. We're a friendly bunch and are happy to help. You can drop a note in your game forum, in the help desk forum, catch someone in chat or send a PM to your GM or an Admin. I usually suggest the Help Desk forum, because then anyone can hop in and help you and you won't have to wait.
2. We invite you to make this place a comfortable home for you and your characters. If we don't have something that you need, please let us know what that is. Our site is striving to evolve and player suggestions and comments are exactly what we need to make sure that happens.
3. Navigation can be a trick around here. Finding what you want, and avoiding what you don't want. There is no right or wrong way to navigate the site, but here are a few options that might help you find what works best for you. The 'My Games' page, will give you information specific to your games (those that you play in and that you request lurker status), the blocks there are disappearing, so when there is no new content in one of your games, it will appear mostly blank. At the bottom of this page, is a table that will allow easy searches for all of the games, and that table will remember your last preferences - so feel free to set it up for you.
Additional navigation methods can be found at this link, http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/my-tools-0#Navigation.
4. As you create character related content for your games, please remember to select the correct 'Story' tag from the list (In this game it will be 'ZP'). Selecting this will ensure that it is dropped into the game queue so that it shows up in your 'My Games' page. The 'Story' tag will be found in blogs, galleries, polls, forums and the game moves.
5. Select an author name. A lot of people use their handle and that's absolutely fine. You can use whatever you want, but please be consistent across all of your games and handles at NextGen RPG. This allows people to search for just your stories and contributions by using the drop down boxes at the top of the site. Some people have more than one handle on the site, but we ask them to use the same 'author' name in both handles. The Author field is a required field when creating blog related content. (Example: My handles are Chairman and Mayhem - but I use China for my author name in all handles.)
6. Assign blogs to your game books. This isn't likely to come up immediately, but it will be important that you assign your solo and joint fiction pieces to your game books, to help your GM keep them all in one piece, so that visitors can fluidly read your story books - by cycling from one story to the next in order. Directions on how to create content and assign them to your games, can be found here - http://www.nextgenrpg.com/content/how-play#CC_Games.
I hope that this isn't overwhelming! Remember that we're here if and when you have questions. :)

Heya Art,
Wow, I see you have an excellent start on game moves. I wanted to make sure that you knew you were welcome to front page all of those. It will allow our regular members to see and follow them, if they'd like to.
I know that when you were porting over DragonGrace, I asked you not to front page them all, but that was only because it wasn't an active game. Please feel welcome to share your game with the entire community by frontpaging it. If you prefer to have that bit of privacy, that's fine, it's still searchable. But I wanted to make sure that the invitation was clear to front page your game's contributions.

I didn't want to flood the front page with 8 game moves. I was going to PM everyone tomorrow just to be certain that they saw their individual stories.
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
nod. nod. That's very courteous of you. *grin*
...but they'll get pushed down quickly enough, so don't be shy when you're ready to front page things. I'll likely be putting out 3-4 new threads for tcq today, so it isn't uncommon for games to come to that point where the front page gets flooded by a single game.
I love to see the activity and just wanted to make sure that you didn't feel like you had restrictions. Cuz ya don't. Your game, your call.
I might sticky Geech's new game call, to help him get visibility, but other than that it won't hurt anything to get pushed down.
This is an excerpt from the FAQ, to help the new members understand how to add content to their game moves.
Another early activity that many players and GMs like to see, is bodycasts. Following is an excerpt from the FAQ concerning how to upload pictures into your game gallery.
Lastly, and oh so important. Here is an excerpt from the FAQ concerning how to find new content in your game moves.
Some GMs will use color codes to help with this problem, but generally they rely completely on the highlighted text. This will be decided on a game by game basis. The best way to ensure that you don't miss any new content, is to click into your game move, and turn on the button that says 'Highlight Changes'. Then select the author drop down box (ex: #6 Torchwood). Find the last update that you are sure that you've read, and from there, click on each author revision, one by one. Ensure that the checkmark box next to highlight changes is checked and click view revision.
What this will do, is highlight only the text that was touched by that author. Yellowed areas will indicate new content or changed content. Gray text is an indicator of content that was removed. Do note that sometimes an entire sentence or paragraph might be highlighted, even if their change was a minor edit. Skimming for obvious new content will make for good results. GMs that use color coding as well, will find that when they go into the file to remove the codes, it will make for a lot of highlights in the view screen. It is recommended, that they drop the code first, and then do a fresh edit to incorporate any new content. It will help their players find the new content easier.

Some additional notes:
If you expand it you will see a list of recent revisions to the document.
This will allow you to see who added to the game and cycle through each addition with the latest revision at the top.
By selecting a version and clicking the view revision button the text added in that version will be highlighted in the main body of the document.
By cycling through the revisions you can see what each person added.
For those that haven't already, I'd like to encourage you to add a personalized image or graphic to represent yourself here. It helps add some character to your posts and serves as an easy identifier. Here is an excerpt from the FAQ with instructions on how to do this.
Thanks for your consideration!
How do I add or edit my Avatar?
Picture - This is where you upload or delete your Avatar for use on the site. Your avatar will be placed next to all of your blog and forum entries.
Player Privileges added for Jahck.
Jahck, check out your 'MyGames' page to find links to any ZP material that you haven't seen yet. Once you click on them, they will disappear until new content is added.
Welcome to NextGen! Might want to skim the messages in this thread for quick tips on playing here.
