ZP: OoC

This is the thread for out of character chatter.
Other than quick ooc notes in the game move to give the GM character actions, all the ooc chat should be kept in the boards or in the comment section at the bottom of the game moves.

These 5 have gotten characters to me so far.
Other than the character of Miles Roland, I need to know where your character is staying as well. Apartment? House? Dorm Room? etc.
Let's see how well the forum posts work for communication as well.

F8 should find the forum fine, he is signed up as a lurker in ZP. The others are completely new to the site, and likely aren't familiar with where to find the forum board or the my games page, or what 'lurker status' is.
You might want to PM them and give them a direct link to your Zodiac Paired boards. Or we could add the link to your ZP pages. Just something to help them find it.
Not trying to intrude! Just wanting to make sure that your subscribers see your communications.
Game on!
Jeremy List lives in a run down studio apartment in Euclid Avenue. Despite his self-imposed financial troubles, he's not so dumb as to not pay his rent and utilities.
Also... woo! OOC chatter. *does a tiny dance*
I've got no reason to post a message, as I've already said that Miles (my character) spends most of his time in and around a boarding school in England (unsurprising really, given that he is 11 years old) but I just wanted to join in the OOC chatter message board victory dance.
Got to get some of that action!
Matt
Fiona lives in a rented trailer in 'Spreading Oaks Village' one of the larger trailer parks in Adena Gorge. Call her trailer trash at your own risk...
I would join in the OOC dance party but you really don't want to see me dance.

Would any of you ooc chatter dancers, like lurker access to the ZP game? *grin*
It can be removed at a later time. But what it would do for you in the short term, is have all new forum messages and anything else ZP related (background stuffs, images, blogs, game moves, etc.) show up in your 'My Games' page. Which might make it easier for some.
For all members, you should have access to the blogs and non game specific stuffs, but if you have any questions or need help, let us know.
oh...and.... WELCOME to Next Gen.
Vesper lives near campus in a shared house with Gail Livingston and Wendy Sheppard who like her cat and the others that come to visit her from time to time.

That sounds quite good to me, thanks. How would I do that?
Lark lives with her boyfriend and 2 female room mates in a house near the school. Ummm... lets call them Amber and Heather.

It is done. It's an administrative action, but making a comment on any game move, will usually be seen. So long as I or one of the admins see that you want lurker status to a game, we'll add you. Or you can send a PM to Chairman, if that's easier.
Regardless, I've added you as a lurker. Now if you click on the My Games link from the left hand side or the top, it will take you to a page that will show a ZP queue, IF (and only if) there is unread content in the game. Once you go to a link it will disappear.
Have fun! :)
OK, so I've got 6 characters now, and 1 player who's going to open up a can of whoop ass on real life before getting me a submission (That's 7 people total or 6.5 kinda). In order to be completely masochistic to myself, I will accept 1 more before next weekend, But I think I will go ahead and work on the opening posts over the next few days, so that for the 6 who have submitted, I would like to go ahead and get started by Wednesday.
And just to be perfectly clear. None of the characters had or exhibited any superpowers of any kind before the first post. All the stories will start in the evening of Friday April 5th, and during that first evening weirdness WILL begin to happen. Some may be much more subtle than others, but I'll make sure everyone has something to chew on... after all you didn't sign up for this game in order to be normal.

Your casting call said it was open until April 24th. So you might get a few more submissions yet.
Which is good and bad.
If you are going to close that early, please let me know so that I can go back and change the posts I made. I don't want anyone that was procrastinating to get upset, so dropping a note in the forum threads that I posted the call to, would be a good idea.
Good and bad is right. Too many people and my rate will slow down. But I guess Interest is good. I will still get the ball rolling by the middle of next week. Anyone after that point, will be fine. Don't worry about updating forums or altering posts there. But I don't think any more cast calls for ZP are necessary at this point. Thanks.

So all, what's ooc during the daytime... and does it change when daylight saving is active?
I feel kind of silly, but I'm not sure I fully understand what you are asking.
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
Hmm...
Looks like we have a member of the Non Sequitur Society among us. "We don't make sense, but we do like pizza!"
Hey guys and gals, I got lucky and just made it in (after some administrative snafus) so I hope to join the cast in short order. Brice lives in the Owings Mills area of Baltimore County Maryland. Baltimore County should not be confused with the much more well known Baltimore City where, say, Homicide Life on the Streets was filmed. Baltimore County completely surrounds the City on all sides...well, there is water access, the Inner Harbor and such, so that point is debatable.
Brice is a cop, has a wife and a young son. Middle-class family man who will soon be faced with....well, whatever Art can dream up I guess.
Welcome Brice! Happy to have you, despite the site saying otherwise.
Those administrative snafus was the site not allowing Brice to complete his registration. Hopefully we have those problems ironed out.
Enjoy the game!

Welcome, welcome and don't be put off by the still unexplained non-sequitor before your post. The rest of us are still basically sane here.
LOL! Thank God. I've spent the last day trying to figure out what other meaning OOC could have besides Out of Character and what on Earth that other meaning had to do with Daylight Savings Time. I thought I was losing my mind. Not cool.
Next time, you should post a bizarre song lyric like the always great, "You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd." Always a crowd pleaser.
My hovercraft is full of eels.

Oh wow, a fellow Bal-moron. I myself stake my domicile right on the city limits over on the southwest side of Bawlmur, right off of Wilkens Ave.
In case you need some face-to-face gaming send me a PM. We have a group going in the area and can always use new vict... er, I mean, new recruits.
OK, so I don't generally post on weekends. Family time and all. I also work two jobs, so the weeknights I'm not working is also family time. Where does that leave gametime? Monday through Friday during my day job. Usually at the end of the day when I've gotten accomplished all that my brain can handle that day or in between coding problems when my brain needs a break from if-thens and who-say-whats-its.
Monday was a kind of emergency where I needed to take the day off and get business done, so Away From Keyboard. Tuesday was planned but I figured if I posted Monday a skipped day would go unnoticed. Tuesday I was also AFK. Sorry about that. If you saw my name on the "Who's online" list to the left, it's because I can read via my cellphone with some effort messages and updates and the such. But posting my my cellphone through the Drupal site is another matter. I've done it once successfully and it was not a fun experience. There too much overhead for my phone to handle.
So, today and tomorrow I'll be making the updates as well as catching up on everything else. If I get everyone an update today, then go ME!

Morey, American, Garden or Electircal?
American is crap. If you're going to fill up your hovercraft, it's got to be on Moay. Your Garden variety is okay, but I think those darn Electric are just a fad.
Alex, I'll take "S**t People Say That Doesn't Make Sense" for $200.
Anyone watch "No Ordinary Family"? It's about a family that is a a plane crash that goes down in the ocean but the part they go down in has some green shinies that give each of the 4 members of the family different superpowers. At the end of the first episode it is revealed that there are other supers on the world, though it doesn't seem to be common knowledge at all.
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
I'd heard about the show, but I've pretty much weaned myself off watching TV.
These days, any show I watch is from DVD sets or online streaming.
Was it worthy?
Well, first of all I've yet to watch any of the Heroes seasons despite wanting to. But I enjoyed "No Ordinary Family". I think it was a little rough around the edges, maybe a tad campy in a couple of places but forgivable. Perhaps I enjoyed it more because of the Zodiac games I run. I look forward to watching the next couple of episodes at a minimum.

My son talked me into watching it. I wasn't all that impressed with it even though super powers are my favorite.

Imagination is the seed of intelligence. Nourish it and watch it grow.
I really enjoyed it. Usually the debut episodes are really rough as people find their voices and such, but I didn't notice it so much in this one.
I'm not in love with the kids yet, but I really enjoyed the parents, and LOVED the DA sidekick. I think it has a lot of potential, but we shall see. I've never been the best critic.
The D.A. sidekick and the dad (who is played by the guy who played the Thing in Fantastic Four) were cool. I didn't like any of the rest of them. I love the super powers genre but just didn't like this particular take on them.

Just a few questions about what is visible about Tucker while he is chatting with Vesper. One of the first things she (and most women I'm told) would notice is if he still wears a wedding ring on that finger or is there just a tan line where it used to be?
What does he currently smell like?
I noticed that his picture is Claude Akins. Does he look as old as Claude does in that picture, or maybe a bit younger?
Anything else you care to add would be appreciated.
I guess it would be up to me to answer that.
There would be signs that he wore a wedding ring, but very faint. He smells like Old Spice and healthy male sweat. Whether there is the slight whiff of musk would be up to the GM, I suppose.
He has that indeterminate age look about him. Her first guess might be mid 30's, but it's hard to tell. He has a general weather-beaten look about him ("it's not the years, it's the mileage").
Hope that helps.
Your prompt response is very much appreciated.
My turn for a question, this time to the GM.
How much time is there before the seminar?
It's a little loose/fuzzy on time, but I'd say about 3 to 4 hours. We can jump at any point in time really, if everyone is in agreement.
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
Okay, thanks. I just wanted to know if Vesper and Tucker had enough time to go visit a library and research the good doctor before attending the seminar.
I think this would be a good time to fast forward in time, if Nestor is agreeable.
if all of this is agreeable with Nestor, I think we can fast forward about an hour (or more) to the discussion picking up in Tucker's room and the GM can supply what information the characters were able to discover using the library and its computers.
Works for me, pending GM approval.
Everything is cool so far. Now I'm looking forward to the GMs next post to set us up.
Okay, good. I was afraid y'all were waiting on me.
NestorD you and the GM are going to have to get together on what Vesper reads of Tucker if and when they end up in the bed together. Because I really can't see them avoiding body contact especially since they've already started out kissing.
Heh. Well, if the GM is as devious as I would be in a situation like this, I expect Vesper will get a heck of a lot more than she bargained for, and I don't mean in the physical sense. Imagine two amplifiers set next to each other. Can you say "feedback"?
As it is, I willingly await any instructions from the GM. Unless we're going for a R rating, I'm assuming the scene will fade to the fireplace and segue to them lying in bed post-coitus, where any impressions that Vesper got would be presented in exposition form.
Oh, and if you need any help determining what kind of "action hero" Tucker is, I'll just say that, while a bit rusty and hesitant at first, he is at least versed in the art of pleasing a woman.
Well if your amplifier analogy works for the two of them, it ought to be interesting for the both of them. I mean beyond what they were expecting of course. Feedback? Hmm...
Fading to the to the next moments after are just fine with me. As is the post-coital exposition of her impressions.
Oh an Vesper was expecting Tucker to be much much better than the Action Figure she had dealt with the evening previous. After all, truck drivers have a certain reputation, he is older than college age, and he is a divorcee with has two children. All are excellent indicators of expertise in matters of the bedroom.
Vesper is a bright kitty after all.
If you need some inspiration, here are some potential memory images that could float up out of Tucker's subconscious:
* As a small child, hugging his father goodbye as the elder Marshall heads off to work as a small-town sheriff, hearing the creak of the leather holster belt and the smelling the mixture of aftershave and tobacco on his skin.
* The sterile smell and sight of a hospital room, as Tucker's dad lies dying of emphysema, the only sounds the rhythmic beeping of the monitors and the old man's wheezing breath.
* Running up to a Humvee ripped apart by an IED and helping the medics take out pieces of what used to be his comrades.
* Sitting in a hospital room again, this time holding a small bundle in his arms, the small scrunched-up face of his newborn daughter looking up at him from the wrapped blanket.
* Walking into an empty house, greeted only by silence and the note on the dining room table.
Thanks very much for including those memory images. As you hopefully can see, they were inspirational and I have already included one in my last post. I do intend to use the others on occasion and maybe expand them a little as I did with that one.
I hope what I have done meets with everyone's approval.
So I'm 35 today, the 18th of April. Inlaws have come and gone. I'm exhausted and I promise, I'll post soon. Please put chocolate cake in you CD-ROM drive and email contents my direction. mmm--mmm- good.
Husband, Father, Gamer, Programmer
35? Feh, you're just a kid. Quit'cher whining and get back to work.
In my day, I got a 20-minute break on birthdays and holidays. And that included the time it took to unshackle myself from my desk.
Feh.
